Job Overview:
In this critical role, the security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Associate will provide practical, operational, and field-based security support. The position involves accompanying personnel on missions and field movements, observing and reporting security-related information, maintaining liaison with local authorities and community interlocutors, and safeguarding UNICEF personnel, premises, and assets during official travel. The Security Associate will be expected to carry out duties with professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion, ensuring compliance with UN security policies and procedures. The role is based in Port-au-Prince and reports to the Security Manager, with key functions including mission support, safety and security services, liaison with local authorities, and support in knowledge management and capacity building.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Security Associate will be responsible for the following duties:

• Mission Support and Field Movements: Accompany UNICEF personnel on missions and field movements, ensuring their safety and security.
• Safety and Security Services: Provide safety and security services to UNICEF personnel and assets, including conducting security assessments and implementing security measures.
• Liaison with Local Authorities and Information Gathering: Maintain regular communication with local authorities and gather security-related information to inform decision-making.
• Support in Knowledge Management and Capacity Building: Assist in knowledge management initiatives and capacity-building efforts related to security protocols and procedures.

Required Qualifications:
The minimum requirements for this position include completion of secondary education and relevant training in technical/military/security courses, guarding, first aid, or defensive driving. A valid national driver’s license is also required. The candidate must possess skills such as self-awareness, drive to achieve, embracing change, and managing ambiguity.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed secondary education, along with relevant training in at least one of the following areas: technical/military/security courses, guarding, first aid, or defensive driving. A valid national driver’s license is mandatory for this role.

Experience:
A minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in a security-related environment is required. This experience should include relevant roles that demonstrate the ability to manage security operations and respond to incidents effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in French is required for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, English, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset. Fluency in Haitian Creole will be a strong asset.
