Job Overview:
The Close Protection Team Leader (FS-5) is responsible for the day-to-day supervision, direction, and coordination of assigned Close Protection Officers. This role involves the effective implementation of close protection operations in support of designated personnel, ensuring that all operations adhere to established UN security policies and procedures. The incumbent will contribute to the planning, preparation, and execution of protection operations, ensuring that assigned personnel are well-prepared and that all security measures are in place to address potential threats. The position requires a high level of professionalism and the ability to operate effectively in a high-risk environment, making critical decisions under pressure.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Close Protection Team Leader will plan, coordinate, and supervise the daily implementation of close protection operations for designated officials. This includes providing operational direction and supervision to assigned Close Protection Officers, ensuring that all duties are performed in accordance with established policies and procedures. The leader will monitor changes in the local threat environment and recommend adjustments to close protection measures as necessary. Responsibilities also include conducting personal protection operations, ensuring that personnel remain vigilant and prepared for potential threats, and coordinating security coverage for offices and residences of senior officials. The leader will also be responsible for the operational readiness of equipment and will conduct briefings and training for team members. Additionally, the incumbent will report significant security incidents and operational observations through the established chain of command.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess excellent knowledge of close protection techniques, with a solid background in military, police, or security specialization. Well-developed analytical skills are essential, as is the ability to recognize and evaluate threats effectively. The candidate must demonstrate the capacity to coordinate close protection operations and manage stress effectively in high-pressure situations. A strong commitment to gender perspectives and equal participation in all areas of work is also required.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Relevant training in the UNDSS 'Revised' Close Protection Officers Course (RCPOC) or an equivalent internationally recognized close protection training program is mandatory. Additionally, completion of the Emergency Trauma Bag/TCCC/IFAK or equivalent medical training certification is required. Certification in specific weapon systems such as G36, MP5, and Glock is also necessary.

Experience:
A minimum of eight years of progressively responsible experience in military, police, or security roles is required. At least four years of experience at the level of Close Protection Team Leader with a national, private, or international security organization is essential. Experience operating in high-risk or conflict environments at the international level is desirable, along with experience in close protection operations involving multiple principals and the conduct of close protection training.

Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat, and both are required for this position. Proficiency in Creole Haiti is desirable but not mandatory. Candidates must meet the minimum required level for each skill in these languages according to the UN Language Framework.
