Job Overview: The position of Junior Consultant to Support the TICAD Unit and UNDP Afghanistan is designed to provide essential support to the TICAD (Tokyo International Conference on African Development) Unit within UNDP. The consultant will be involved in various tasks that contribute to the planning, implementation, and monitoring of projects related to TICAD and UNDP's initiatives in Afghanistan. The consultant will also be expected to engage with stakeholders, gather relevant data, and contribute to reports and presentations that highlight the progress and impact of the projects. Duties and Responsibilities: The Junior Consultant will be responsible for a range of duties including but not limited to:
Assisting in the preparation and organization of TICAD-related events and meetings, ensuring all logistical aspects are managed effectively.
Supporting the development of project proposals and reports, including conducting research and analysis to inform decision-making.
Engaging with various stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs, and community representatives, to gather insights and feedback on project implementation.
Monitoring project activities and outcomes, providing regular updates to the TICAD Unit and UNDP management.
Contributing to the documentation of best practices and lessons learned from project implementation to enhance future initiatives.
Collaborating with team members to ensure alignment with UNDP's strategic goals and objectives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong understanding of international development, particularly in the context of Africa and Afghanistan. A demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and engage with diverse stakeholders is essential. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be proficient in using various software tools for data analysis and presentation. Familiarity with UNDP's operational procedures and policies will be considered an asset. Additionally, candidates should exhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in international relations, development studies, public administration, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline would be an advantage. Candidates should have a solid academic background that demonstrates their understanding of development issues and the ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in international development, project management, or a related field. Experience working with UN agencies or international organizations is highly desirable. Candidates should have a proven track record of supporting project implementation and stakeholder engagement, as well as familiarity with monitoring and evaluation processes.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both spoken and written. Proficiency in Japanese or any other language relevant to the region would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively with local stakeholders and partners.
