Job Overview:
The Associate Senior Solutions Engineer plays a critical role in the World Bank's Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) Vice Presidential Unit (VPU). This position is designed for a subject matter expert who will lead and manage complex solution implementation projects, mentor junior engineers, and drive innovation in integration and optimization. The role is pivotal in shaping organizational best practices and influencing technical strategies. The Associate Senior Solutions Engineer will work closely with architecture and product leadership to ensure that solutions align with the strategic objectives of the organization, focusing on operational reliability, automation, and continuous improvement across enterprise technology ecosystems. This position is essential for fostering collaboration and innovation within the World Bank Group, particularly in the context of emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, and blockchain.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Associate Senior Solutions Engineer include:
  • Solution Design & Engineering: Manage the translation of business requirements into functional and technical specifications, ensuring clarity and alignment with organizational objectives. Design and review secure, scalable, and compliant technology solutions, applying best practices in application integration and data modeling. Review solution designs for adherence to organizational and regulatory security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security standards, embedding security controls throughout the lifecycle.
  • Agile Delivery & Integration: Lead Agile delivery teams through onboarding, configuration, and integration activities, selecting and applying appropriate Agile methodologies. Manage the integration of applications and data flows, leveraging cloud platforms and standard interoperability approaches to optimize performance. Promote configuration management and continuous improvement, troubleshooting issues and supporting the adoption of new technologies and practices.
  • IT Service Delivery & Governance: Support the design, assessment, and strengthening of enterprise IT service delivery models, ensuring alignment with business objectives and institutional priorities. Develop and refine delivery governance frameworks, performance metrics, and reporting structures to improve predictability, transparency, and accountability. Support portfolio-level visibility of services, initiatives, and delivery risks across multiple ITS stakeholders.
  • Digital Transformation & Innovation Enablement: Advise on the practical application of digital transformation initiatives, including automation, AI-enabled services, and modernization of delivery practices. Support the identification, prioritization, and transition of innovative solutions from proof of concept to sustainable operational services. Contribute to enterprise-wide service modernization efforts while ensuring architectural consistency and scalability.
  • Enterprise Architecture & Standards Alignment: Support alignment of service delivery initiatives with enterprise architecture principles, standards, and roadmaps. Facilitate architectural reviews and ensure service and solution designs adhere to security, resilience, and governance requirements. Translate high-level architectural direction into actionable guidance for delivery teams and stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Operational Excellence: Build trust and manage expectations with internal customers, fostering collaborative relationships across business and IT teams. Apply analytical reasoning to evaluate solution effectiveness, optimize business decisions, and drive operational value. Champion innovation by producing creative solutions and mentoring others in problem-solving and technical insight.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Master’s degree with 8 years of experience or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates should possess core skills and capabilities that include leading complex projects, integrating multidisciplinary work, and contributing to strategy, analysis, and policy formulation. The ability to identify and evaluate systemic issues and analyze complex problems is essential. Collaboration with internal stakeholders on strategic matters is crucial, as is the capacity to provide guidance, coaching, and training to junior staff. Comprehensive and in-depth expertise in a broad area of specialization or a narrowly specialized field is required.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a Master’s degree in a relevant field with at least 8 years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. This educational background should ideally include studies in information technology, computer science, engineering, or a related discipline that supports the technical and analytical demands of the role.

Experience:
The role requires significant experience in managing complex solution implementation projects, with a minimum of 8 years for those with a Master’s degree or 10 years for those with a Bachelor’s degree. Candidates should have a proven track record of leading Agile delivery teams, integrating applications and data flows, and advising on digital transformation initiatives. Experience in mentoring junior engineers and driving innovation in technology solutions is also essential.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English. Proficiency in additional languages is preferred but not required, as the primary working language within the World Bank is English.
