The United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH) was established to provide support primarily to the Gang Suppression Force (GSF), the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), the Haitian National Police (HNP), and the Haitian Armed Forces. Job Overview:
The Movement Control Assistant plays a crucial role in the logistics and transportation operations within the United Nations Support Office in Haiti. This position involves receiving and supporting cargo movement requests for both air and ground transportation, assisting in the boarding and deplaning of passengers and crew, and handling cargo as necessary. The assistant is responsible for maintaining accurate attendance records and documentation, serving as the focal point at the Aeropuerto Internacional de Las Americas (AILA) in Santo Domingo, and coordinating with the MovCon and Logistics team in Port-au-Prince. The role requires a strong understanding of movement control procedures and the ability to work effectively under pressure while ensuring compliance with safety and security regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Movement Control Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: arranging passenger and cargo load plans, coordinating the travel of civilians and military personnel, ensuring compliance with safety and security measures, preparing movement orders, overseeing cargo and passenger manifests, arranging customs clearance, coordinating with port and local authorities, and assisting in the onboarding and deplaning of passengers. The assistant will also check in passengers, manage baggage handling, monitor movement requests, and resolve operational issues related to cargo and passenger movements. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively to ensure smooth operations.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a valid driver license. A postgraduate certificate in cargo, logistics, passenger handling, or customer service is desirable. The role requires a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in movement control or airport operations, as well as general experience in passenger management, transport logistics, or administration. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams, is also desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional qualifications such as a postgraduate certificate in relevant fields like logistics or customer service are considered advantageous and may enhance a candidate's application.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least seven years of progressively responsible experience in movement control or airport operations. This experience should include roles related to passenger management, transport logistics, or administration. Experience working within the United Nations system or similar international organizations is highly desirable, as it demonstrates familiarity with the operational standards and protocols of such entities.

Languages:
For this position, proficiency in English and Spanish is required, with a minimum level of UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Knowledge of French or Creole Haiti is considered desirable, providing an additional advantage in communication within the diverse linguistic environment of the United Nations.
