Job Overview:
The Driver position at UNHCR involves not only driving official vehicles but also maintaining and ensuring the operational readiness of these vehicles. The incumbent will be responsible for transporting authorized personnel, delivering documents, and facilitating customs and immigration processes when necessary. The Driver will also engage with various stakeholders, including government authorities and partners, to facilitate UNHCR's mission. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be tasked with the following duties: driving UNHCR vehicles for the transport of authorized passengers; delivering and collecting documents and items; meeting official personnel at airports and assisting with immigration and customs; performing daily maintenance checks on vehicles, including oil, water, battery, brakes, and tires; ensuring vehicles are roadworthy and meet security standards; performing minor repairs and arranging for major repairs; keeping vehicles clean; logging official trips, mileage, gas consumption, and maintenance activities; following all security instructions and guidance from supervisors; ensuring valid documentation for passengers and cargo; supporting risk management and decision-making processes; and performing other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driving license and have a solid understanding of driving rules and regulations. Essential functional skills include basic vehicle mechanical skills and knowledge of safety regulations. The position requires accountability, effective communication, organizational awareness, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous learning. Candidates should demonstrate a client and results-oriented approach, technological awareness, analytical thinking, and strong planning and organizing abilities.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of primary education or a high school diploma. Candidates with higher educational qualifications may also be considered favorably. A valid driving license is essential for this role, and any additional certifications related to vehicle operation or maintenance will be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least two years of relevant experience in a driving role. Experience in a similar environment, particularly within international organizations or NGOs, is desirable. Familiarity with local roads, traffic conditions, and safety regulations is crucial for success in this position.

Languages:
Mandatory language requirements include proficiency in English and Spanish at a B2 level. Candidates must indicate all languages they are familiar with, including their native language(s), and their corresponding proficiency levels. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

This is a national position offered under a fixed-term contract for an initial period of one year. Candidates must be nationals of the Dominican Republic or non-Dominican applicants who already reside in the country with valid work and residency permits.
