Job Overview: The Consultant (Documentary Videomaker) will play a crucial role in documenting and disseminating key components of UN-Habitat's initiatives in Brazil. This position involves producing audiovisual materials that highlight the historical, cultural, and social significance of projects, particularly focusing on the Municipal Cemetery of Juiz de Fora. The consultant will be responsible for creating a mini-documentary, a series of short videos, and an institutional video that communicates the project's activities and results to various audiences. The role requires close collaboration with UN-Habitat's operational and technical teams, ensuring that all audiovisual content aligns with the organization's communication standards and effectively conveys the project's objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Consultant (Documentary Videomaker) will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
Planning, recording, and producing audiovisual content related to project activities, including interviews and footage of historical and cultural sites.
Editing video and audio materials, ensuring high technical quality and adherence to project specifications.
Conducting interviews with various stakeholders, including public officials and community representatives.
Capturing supporting footage that enhances the narrative of the audiovisual products.
Maintaining a structured archive of all recorded materials and ensuring their accessibility for the project team.
Providing all necessary audiovisual equipment and software licenses for editing.
Overseeing all stages of production, from pre-production planning to final delivery of edited materials.
Completing required training courses, including security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security training, during the first month of employment.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Photography, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Film Studies, or related fields. Alternatively, candidates with an additional three years of relevant experience beyond the educational requirement will also be considered. A minimum of three years of professional experience in video editing and audiovisual production is required, along with a portfolio showcasing previous work. Experience in documentary production and storytelling related to gender issues and public interest agendas is essential. Proficiency in video editing software and basic graphic design skills are also required, along with experience working with international organizations being desirable.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Communications, Photography, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or Film Studies is required. Candidates with additional relevant experience may substitute for formal education. The educational background should provide a solid foundation in audiovisual production techniques and storytelling.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of professional experience in video editing and audiovisual production. Candidates should have a proven track record in producing documentaries and experience in storytelling that addresses gender issues and public interest topics, particularly in urban contexts. Familiarity with the UN or similar international agencies is considered an asset.
Languages: Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory for this position, as it is essential for effective communication within the local context. Working knowledge of Spanish and English is desirable, as these languages are relevant to the broader UN context and may facilitate collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is part-time (40%) and is based locally in Brazil, with a total remuneration of BRL 15,000.00, distributed across four payments tied to the delivery of specific products. The consultant must be available for travel within Brazil as required by the project. The contract duration is six months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability.
