Job Overview:
The Youth Engagement and Gamification Consultant will play a crucial role in the implementation of the 'Youth gamification for environmental preservation and urban resilience' initiative, which aims to engage young people, particularly in public schools, through innovative methodologies such as gamification and educommunication. This position requires the consultant to design, facilitate, and implement gamified processes that align with the project’s objectives and UN-Habitat’s principles of inclusion and sustainability. The consultant will work closely with UN-Habitat’s operational and technical teams, ensuring that activities are effectively mobilized in schools and prioritized territories in Petrópolis. The consultant will also be responsible for fostering youth engagement in climate justice and sustainability, promoting critical thinking and territorial awareness among participants.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: 1) Developing and implementing the gamification methodology for the project, including the structure of challenges and evaluation criteria; 2) Planning and facilitating workshops and training activities with youth in public schools, focusing on urban resilience and sustainability; 3) Supporting the continuous engagement of youth participants, promoting inclusion and active participation; 4) Contributing to the development of pedagogical content and supporting materials; 5) Coordinating with the audiovisual production team to integrate educational activities with content produced by youth; 6) Organizing events and public presentations to showcase project results; 7) Preparing technical reports and documentation related to project activities; 8) Ensuring alignment with UN-Habitat principles regarding social inclusion and urban resilience; 9) Completing required training courses, including the BSAFE security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security course from UNDSS.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Social Work, Pedagogy, Biology, Environmental Studies, or related fields. Alternatively, candidates with an additional three years of relevant experience beyond the educational requirement will also be considered. A postgraduate degree in relevant fields such as Education, Participatory Methodologies, or Environmental Studies is desirable. Candidates should have a minimum of three years of experience in educational, social, or community-based projects in Brazil, with a strong emphasis on facilitating workshops and participatory processes with youth. Experience in sustainability, climate justice, and innovative methodologies like gamification is required. Previous experience within the UN System is a plus.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Social Sciences, Psychology, or Environmental Studies is required. A postgraduate degree in Education, Participatory Methodologies, or related fields is desirable. Candidates with extensive relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal educational qualifications.

Experience:
A minimum of three years of experience in educational, social, or community-based projects in Brazil is required. Candidates should have experience facilitating workshops and participatory processes, particularly with youth. Experience in sustainability and climate justice projects is essential, along with familiarity with innovative methodologies such as gamification and educommunication. Previous experience within the UN System is considered advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory for this position. Working knowledge of English and/or Spanish is desirable, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat, while Spanish is the working language of the Regional Office.

Additional Notes:
This position is part-time (95%) with a total remuneration of BRL 30,00
  • The payment schedule is divided into four installments based on the delivery and approval of specific project products. The consultant must be available for travel within Brazil as required by the Head of Brazil Office, with travel expenses covered by UN-Habitat according to United Nations travel guidelines. The appointment is on a local basis, and only nationals from Brazil or candidates with a permanent visa may apply. The contract's extension is subject to funding availability and performance, and all applications must be submitted in English through the specified platform.
