Job Overview: The Local Mobiliser will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the Periferia Viva Program in Santo André, São Paulo. This position involves engaging with local communities to promote participation in decision-making processes and project activities. The Local Mobiliser will work closely with UN-Habitat’s operational and technical teams to ensure that the community's needs are addressed and that the project aligns with the agency's quality expectations. The role requires effective communication with community members to disseminate project information and foster a sense of belonging among residents. The Local Mobiliser will also be responsible for reporting on activities and ensuring compliance with UN security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security protocols.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Local Mobiliser will have a range of responsibilities, including: 1) Promoting community participation and engagement; 2) Organizing and facilitating meetings, workshops, and assemblies; 3) Communicating project information clearly to the community; 4) Encouraging active participation in decision-making; 5) Publicizing the program within the community; 6) Attending project meetings as required; 7) Ensuring technical activities meet agency quality standards; 8) Completing a Monthly Activity Report; 9) Undertaking any additional duties as requested by the supervisor; 10) Completing required training, including the BSAFE security course.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a High School diploma or equivalent, with an additional two years of relevant technical experience preferred. A minimum of four years of experience in social mobilization, community organization, or related fields in Brazil is required. Previous experience with the United Nations is desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong computer skills, particularly in Windows and Office applications, and possess competencies in professionalism, planning, organization, communication, teamwork, and knowledge management.
Educational Background: A High School diploma is mandatory for this position. Candidates with additional relevant technical experience beyond the educational requirement will be considered favorably. Educational qualifications should be clearly outlined in the application, including dates and details of any relevant training or certifications.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of four years of experience in social mobilization activities, social work in urban communities, or community organization in Brazil. Experience working with the United Nations or similar organizations is considered an asset. Languages: Fluency in Portuguese is required for this position, as it is essential for effective communication with the local community. Proficiency in English and French is beneficial, as these are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of Spanish is also advantageous, given its relevance to the Regional Office's operations.
Additional Notes: This position is based locally in Brazil, and only Brazilian nationals or candidates with a permanent visa in Brazil may apply. The contract is expected to last for six months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The remuneration will be based on the SB-2/4 UNDP Brazil Salary Scale.
