Job Overview:
The Programme Associate position at WFP is designed to provide specialized support and technical analyses to the organization's activities related to climate change and resilient food systems. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that various operational activities are performed within established targets, adhering to WFP's policies and procedures. This role involves preparing reports and data analyses to track deliverables, ensuring accurate and timely recording of program-related data, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to support project implementation and monitoring. The Programme Associate will also provide administrative support to the unit, ensuring effective business operations and compliance with regulations. This position is crucial for enhancing the effectiveness of WFP's climate change initiatives and ensuring that the organization meets its strategic objectives in this area.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support SO4 operations to ensure activities are performed within established targets, following WFP’s policies and procedures.
  • Prepare reports and data analyses, highlighting trends and issues to ensure deliverables adhere to corporate standards.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of program-related data and assist in preparing briefing documents and updates.
  • Liaise with internal counterparts to support collaboration and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
  • Collaborate with vendors and state offices for ongoing activities.
  • Oversee and review the work of WFP contracted field partners, providing guidance in consultation with the Head of SO
  • Conduct basic data analysis and prepare for meetings, including creating presentations and comprehensive reports.
  • Coordinate with local partners, agencies, NGOs, and government institutions, maintaining a good database for correspondence.
  • Respond to operational business inquiries to provide timely resolutions. 1
  • Oversee maintenance of records and databases for unit procurements and fund disbursal. 1
  • Assist managers in planning and reconciling budgets to ensure effective use of financial resources. 1
  • Provide complex business support services to staff to enhance business operations. 1
  • Monitor leave records for the SO4 Unit and ensure timely compilation for HR. 1
  • Perform procurement functions as delegated, including creating Purchase Requisitions and posting service entries in the SAP system. 1
  • Undertake any other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess specialized knowledge of common business processes and practical business support methods, gained through technical training and work experience. Good communication skills are essential for providing specialized business support services to a diverse range of individuals. The ability to analyze and interpret financial data, monitor budgets, and proactively recommend areas for improvement is crucial. Experience in coordinating the work of others and maintaining confidentiality is also required. Familiarity with SAP is an added advantage.

Educational Background:
A secondary education is required, preferably with specialized certification in a related functional area. A university degree in Business, Commerce, Public Administration, Communications, Economics, Agriculture, Statistics, Environmental Sciences, Information Technology/Computer Science, or a related field is desirable.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 6 years of progressively responsible program or administrative support experience at the national or international level, with a minimum of 2 years in UN, international-multilateral, or multinational organizations. Desired experiences include working with technical teams on resilience, agriculture, climate adaptation projects, and contributing to program implementation.

Languages:
Excellent writing and communication skills in English are mandatory, along with a working knowledge of Hindi. Proficiency in additional languages may be beneficial but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This position is open to Indian nationals only and is available for both internal and external candidates. The contract is a Service Contract for a duration of 1 year, with the possibility of renewal. The base salary for this position is INR 1,14,414 per month, plus 8.33% of the base salary towards social security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, and medical benefits as per WFP's plan. All tax liabilities for payments from this contract are to be borne by the subscriber. A written test will be used for screening candidates, and only recommended candidates will be retained on the roster for a period of two years for similar positions.
