Job Overview: The position of Staff Assistant / Geospatial Data Assistant / Architect at SHAPE is designed for individuals who are ready to engage in a fast-paced international environment. Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including data management and metadata management, contributing to the assessment of location-based information across NATO Communities of Interest (COIs). They will manage data on exchange platforms, develop coherent data schemas, and facilitate communication among data owners to ensure interoperability and adherence to NATO standards. The role also involves liaising with key stakeholders, communicating data insights, and applying data governance principles. Additional duties include exploring innovative data solutions, analyzing data for actionable insights, and maintaining effective communication across the organization. The incumbent may also be required to undertake temporary duty assignments both within and outside NATO's boundaries and work unsocial hours as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience with geo-located data and data science analytics, demonstrating the ability to produce intelligence from quality-assured geospatial information. Knowledge of data management specific to geospatial data is essential. Candidates should possess professional training in geography, computer science, information technology, or a related field, leading to a formal certification or qualification. A Bachelor's degree in a geospatial or data analytics-related subject is desirable, along with experience in developing Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this position include higher secondary education and completed intermediate vocational training in relevant fields such as geography, computer science, or information technology. Candidates with secondary education and advanced vocational training leading to professional accreditation are also eligible, provided they have the requisite experience. A Bachelor's degree in a related subject is considered an asset.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in handling geo-located data and data science analytics. Candidates should have a proven track record of producing intelligence from geospatial information and managing data operations effectively.
