Job Overview:
The Backend Developer will play a crucial role in the application development team, focusing on the design, testing, development, and deployment of eUNRWA solutions. This position requires a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and the ability to coordinate with various units within the Digital Impact, Technology and Innovation Department (DITID) to implement high-performance software solutions. The developer will be responsible for creating web applications and interfaces that integrate with both internal and external partner systems, ensuring that all solutions meet the defined standards and business process requirements. The role also emphasizes collaboration with UI/UX designers to create user-centric applications, and the developer will be expected to write clean, maintainable code while adhering to best practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The specific duties and responsibilities of the Backend Developer include but are not limited to: developing and maintaining web applications using React for the front end and Python/Django for the back end; designing and implementing RESTful APIs and integrating them with third-party services; ensuring the security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, performance, and scalability of applications across different environments; collaborating with UI/UX designers to deliver responsive solutions; writing clean and well-documented code; conducting code reviews and mentoring junior developers; troubleshooting and debugging existing systems to enhance functionality and reliability; preparing comprehensive technical documentation and user manuals; and participating in agile ceremonies while providing regular progress updates.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree from an accredited institution in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline. Additionally, a minimum of 6 years of experience in full-stack development is required. Proven experience with React, Python, and Django is essential, along with experience in RESTful API design and integration. A strong knowledge of front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript/TypeScript is also necessary. Familiarity with relational databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MSSQL, as well as experience in implementing authentication, authorization, and role-based access control, is required. Candidates should also be familiar with testing frameworks such as PyTest and the Django Test Framework, and have experience with building and using Docker containers.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field from an accredited educational institution. This foundational knowledge is critical for understanding the complexities of software development and the technologies involved in the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 6 years of experience in full-stack development. This experience should encompass a broad range of skills, including proficiency in both front-end and back-end technologies, as well as practical experience in developing and maintaining web applications. Candidates should have a proven track record of working on complex projects and delivering high-quality software solutions.

Languages:
Fluency in both Arabic and English is mandatory for this position, as these are the working languages of UNRWA. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in both languages to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy is based in UNRWA's Headquarters in Amman, with the possibility for remote consultancy in the fields of UNRWA operations. This position is open to local candidates only. The selected candidate will receive a monthly remuneration of JOD 1,190.44 or its equivalent in USD for each fully completed month. The contract duration is until the end of the year, with the possibility of extension subject to the availability of funds, continuing need, and satisfactory performance.
