Job Overview:
The Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the design and implementation of EOF's evaluation strategy. This position involves working closely with the MEL Lead to assist in the effective design of upcoming EOF programs, monitoring the execution of evaluation strategies, and producing knowledge and evidence aligned with EOF's strategic objectives. The intern will engage in various tasks, including administrative support for procuring external evaluators, developing evaluation methodologies, and participating in discussions with stakeholders. This role is essential for ensuring that EOF's programs are effective and accountable, ultimately contributing to improved educational outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The MEL Intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:

• Supporting the design and implementation of EOF’s program evaluation strategy by providing administrative and coordination support for the procurement of external evaluators and research firms.
• Assisting in developing evaluation methodologies, protocols, and frameworks by conducting background research and drafting sections under the guidance of the MEL Lead.
• Researching appropriate measurement tools and indicators for program metrics and summarizing options for review.
• Helping to draft research questions and map data collection methods for programs’ learning agendas and sustainability frameworks.
• Participating in MEL discussions with stakeholders, including scheduling, note-taking, and follow-up.
• Supporting evidence generation and knowledge management by identifying MEL-related learning opportunities and assisting with data collection and analysis.
• Sharing findings and lessons learned with program partners and assisting in the production of external knowledge products.
• Documenting EOF’s evaluation and MEL approach and supporting internal knowledge-sharing on challenges and best practices.
• Ensuring adherence to data protection requirements by maintaining relevant documentation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be currently enrolled in or have recently completed (within 3 years prior to the application date) a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in relevant fields such as education, evaluation, economics, developmental studies, political science, international development, or a related area. Additionally, candidates should have exposure to research, evaluation, or education work through professional or volunteer experiences, internships, or academic projects. Familiarity with Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) frameworks and methodologies is also required, along with a demonstrated interest in evaluation, education, skills-for-employment, and international development.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a degree in relevant fields such as education, evaluation, economics, developmental studies, political science, international development, or a related discipline. Candidates must be currently enrolled in or have recently completed their degree within the last three years prior to the application date.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have some level of experience, which can include exposure to research, evaluation, or education work through internships, volunteer work, or academic projects. Desired experience includes professional roles in education, research, or evaluation, as well as familiarity with research design and mixed-methods impact evaluations. Candidates should also have experience working in complex contexts and managing competing priorities from various stakeholders.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required, while proficiency in Arabic and French is desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills in these languages, particularly in a professional context.
