Job Overview:
The Investment Support Manager will play a pivotal role in the Energy and Sustainable Business (ESB) program, which is dedicated to advancing decarbonization among businesses in Indonesia. This position is hybrid, requiring 8 days per month in the office, and is based in Jakarta. The ESB program aims to support Indonesia's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions while fostering economic development. The Investment Support Manager will lead the technical execution of project pipeline development, investment-readiness assessments, and investor engagement for the MENTARI project, a UK-Indonesia low-carbon energy partnership. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including government ministries, financial institutions, and renewable energy developers, to enhance project readiness and bankability. The manager will ensure that gender equality, disability, and social inclusion (GEDSI) considerations are integrated into all aspects of project delivery, from stakeholder engagement to investment decision-making. The position requires a strong understanding of the renewable energy project development cycle and the ability to navigate complex financial and regulatory landscapes to facilitate successful project outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Investment Support Manager will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties, including:
  • Project Preparation and Due Diligence: Identifying potential project pipelines and stakeholder maps through coordination with related projects. Supporting the establishment and quality review of lender and investor data rooms. Co-leading the creation of workplans for technical assistance activities, including feasibility studies and due diligence. Reviewing key project documents such as Power Purchase Agreements and contracts. Coordinating with specialist consultants to address technical, commercial, legal, and financial gaps.
  • Financial and Project Structuring: Reviewing financial models, project revenue models, and investment memoranda. Designing bundling and aggregation approaches to enhance investment attractiveness.
  • Blended Finance and Capital Mobilization: Reviewing blended-finance options to mobilize private capital and matching financing needs with appropriate capital providers. Supporting project sponsors during investor engagement and due diligence processes.
  • Project Management Support: Maintaining accurate records of project pipelines and investor engagement. Monitoring activities, deliverables, and timelines. Providing regular updates and recommendations to the Investment Support Lead. Contributing to project report writing and translating project barriers into policy improvement inputs.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, engineering, energy systems, infrastructure planning, public policy, sustainable development, or a related field. A bachelor’s degree with substantial relevant experience may be considered. The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in renewable energy, sustainable infrastructure, project finance, or related fields. At least 3 years of experience in a technical lead or project lead role is essential, demonstrating the ability to coordinate technical work and engage stakeholders effectively. Candidates should have a strong understanding of the renewable energy project-development cycle and familiarity with financial concepts and investment metrics.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a bachelor’s or master’s degree in relevant fields such as finance, economics, business administration, engineering, energy systems, infrastructure planning, public policy, or sustainable development. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree and significant relevant experience may also be considered for the role.

Experience:
The Investment Support Manager position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in areas such as renewable energy, sustainable infrastructure, project finance, banking, transaction advisory, or project development. Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in a technical lead or project lead capacity, showcasing their ability to manage technical work and coordinate with various stakeholders effectively.

Languages:
Proficiency in both Bahasa Indonesia and English is mandatory for this position. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in these languages are essential for effective stakeholder engagement and project delivery. Additional language skills may be considered an advantage but are not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
This is a full-time position with a fixed-term employment agreement for 6 months, with the possibility of extension up to March 31, 2028, depending on individual performance, project needs, and budget availability. Candidates must have existing work authorization in Indonesia at the time of application, as WRI is unable to sponsor work visas for this position. The role involves a hybrid working model with flexible working hours, and candidates should be willing to travel within Indonesia as required.
