Job Overview:
The Electric Mobility Industry Analyst will play a crucial role in WRI Indonesia's e-mobility portfolio, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in cities through sustainable transportation and vehicle electrification. This hybrid position requires the analyst to work in the Jakarta office for 8 days per month while also engaging in remote work. The analyst will be responsible for conducting technical research and analysis on the automotive and electric vehicle industry, focusing on global and local perspectives. This includes assessing industry trends, opportunities, and challenges related to supply-side regulations, battery supply chain roadmaps, and the acceleration of zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles (HDVs). The role involves collaboration with specialists and fellow researchers to generate evidence-based insights that inform policy recommendations and program implementation, contributing to WRI's mission of supporting the Indonesian government in achieving its e-mobility targets and transport decarbonization goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Electric Mobility Industry Analyst will undertake a variety of duties, including:

• Conducting in-depth analysis of key trends, challenges, and opportunities in the global and national automotive and battery ecosystem sectors, focusing on strategies for transitioning to a zero-emission industry.
• Developing policy recommendations for the implementation of supply-side regulations for zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) adoption in Indonesia, as well as for the battery supply chain roadmap and zero-emission HDV acceleration.
• Contributing to project deliverables such as reports, presentations, press releases, and other knowledge products.
• Collaborating with staff across WRI Indonesia and WRI Global, particularly from the cities and urban mobility program.
• Supporting the organization of internal and external meetings, workshops, and conferences.
• Engaging with key stakeholders in the automotive and battery industries, including government ministries and private sector partners, to develop analyses and recommendations for supply chain development.
• Documenting the data collection, cleaning, and analysis processes to ensure transparency and reproducibility.
• Preparing monthly comprehensive progress reports that include engagement with key stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, politics, management, international relations, or a related field in the automotive industry. A Master’s degree in automotive and transport-related fields is considered a plus. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of three years of professional experience in the automotive industry, with knowledge and experience in electric vehicles (EV) and new energy mobility being advantageous. The ability to support discrete elements of research projects with limited managerial guidance is essential, as is the capacity to communicate effectively in both Bahasa Indonesia and English, both verbally and in writing. Strong organizational skills, time management abilities, and a proactive work style are also required.

Educational Background:
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as engineering, economics, politics, management, or international relations. A Master’s degree in automotive and transport-related disciplines is preferred but not mandatory. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of the automotive industry and the transition to electric mobility.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least three years of professional experience in the automotive industry. Experience with electric vehicles and new energy mobility is highly desirable. The candidate should be capable of conducting research and analysis with minimal supervision, demonstrating the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines effectively.

Languages:
Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia and English is mandatory, with strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages. This bilingual capability is essential for effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement in a diverse working environment.

Additional Notes:
This position is a consultant role with a contract duration from September 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension based on individual performance evaluation, project needs, and budget availability. The consultant will be compensated at a daily rate, with a maximum of 72 working days for the entire contract period, averaging 18 working days per month. The role requires existing work authorization in Indonesia, as WRI is unable to sponsor visa work for this position.
