Job Overview: The Women's Economic Empowerment Specialist position is a consultancy role that reports to the Programme Manager for Women's Economic Empowerment. The consultant will support the implementation of initiatives aimed at enhancing women's economic empowerment in Indonesia, particularly through the EmPower II Programme and the BERANI initiative. The role involves providing technical and operational assistance to implementing partners, government counterparts, and stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of programme results. The consultant will be responsible for coordinating activities related to women's climate-resilient livelihoods, supporting women's economic empowerment interventions, and documenting programme progress. This position requires a strong understanding of gender-responsive approaches and the ability to engage with various stakeholders to promote women's economic participation and leadership.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will undertake a variety of tasks, including:
Supporting the development and management of partnerships for women's economic empowerment in Indonesia, engaging with government, donors, and the private sector.
Coordinating activities with local partners and community organizations to implement climate-resilient livelihoods and entrepreneurship initiatives.
Assisting in capacity-building activities for women entrepreneurs and leaders, including logistics and liaising with trainers.
Documenting programme progress through collecting stories, lessons learned, and reporting on activities.
Supporting the implementation of the WeCare initiative to recognize and reduce unpaid care work while enhancing women's economic empowerment.
Providing technical assistance in planning and delivering climate-resilient livelihood activities, including entrepreneurship and market linkage initiatives.
Monitoring implementation progress, identifying challenges, and recommending adaptive management actions.
Integrating gender equality and human rights principles into all programme activities and contributing to knowledge management and visibility efforts.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in development studies, business administration, public policy, economics, gender studies, social sciences, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. The position requires a minimum of 2 years of professional experience (with a Master's degree) or 4 years (with a Bachelor's degree) in programme development, project management, and implementation. Experience in managing activities, developing terms of reference, and engaging with private sectors on gender equality and diversity is essential. Knowledge of human-centered design and previous experience in the UN system are advantageous.
Educational Background: A Master's degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as development studies, business administration, public policy, economics, gender studies, or social sciences is required. A first-level university degree may be accepted with additional qualifying experience. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of gender issues and economic empowerment.

Additional Notes: This is a home-based consultancy position, but the consultant is expected to be based in the Greater Jakarta area for key in-person workshops and events. The role involves a 12-month workplan with monthly reporting to the WEE unit, and the consultant will be expected to integrate gender equality and human rights principles into all activities.
