Job Overview: As the Political Mobilization Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People (HAC) in its political mobilization efforts and strategy. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about biodiversity conservation and are eager to engage with various stakeholders, including governments, NGOs, UN agencies, and philanthropic organizations. Your contributions will be vital in drafting strategic documents, enhancing outreach activities, and participating in discussions that shape the future of global biodiversity initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities: Your responsibilities will include contributing to the HAC for Nature & People political mobilization strategy, assisting the Political Mobilization Team in engaging with the International Steering Committee (ISC), and supporting the drafting of strategic documents for 202
You will also be involved in outreach and bilateral engagement activities, updating the political mobilization strategy in coordination with the Senior Program Officer, and engaging with partners and supporters. Additionally, you will strengthen country engagement by preparing for international events, co-leading country engagement efforts, and organizing regional meetings. Your role will also encompass leading communication coordination for the HAC team, developing communication assets, and supporting social media planning. Finally, you will co-lead the organization of the Global 30x30 Summit, ensuring strong engagement with HAC members and managing logistics for the event.
Required Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must possess a completed Bachelor’s degree in international relations, diplomacy, natural sciences, political science, or socio-economic sciences. You should have experience working with financial institutions and demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills. The ability to work collaboratively within a team and manage competing priorities is essential. Experience in coordinating high-level events, managing relationships with mid-level managers from government agencies and NGOs, and familiarity with high-level communications (both verbal and written) is also required. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite and SharePoint is necessary for this role.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as international relations, diplomacy, natural sciences, political science, or socio-economic sciences. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of political mobilization and biodiversity conservation efforts.
Experience: Candidates should have relevant experience in the field, particularly in working with financial institutions and managing high-level communications. Additional Notes: This position is a hybrid role requiring 8 days per month in the office, based in London. It is a one-year contract with the possibility of extension. Existing work authorization is required at the time of application, as WRI is unable to sponsor visa work authorization. The potential salary for this position ranges from £45,000 to £56,000, commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
