Job Overview: The INGO Forum Director is tasked with the overall responsibility for the facilitation, leadership, and quality management of the INGO Forum's operations in Jordan. This role is crucial in ensuring that the Forum remains relevant to the needs of its members and is appropriately aligned with the context of humanitarian and development work in the region. The Director will engage with high-level stakeholders to elevate operational concerns and will represent the interests of the INGO Forum in both national and global platforms. The position requires a proactive approach to agenda setting, fostering collaboration among INGOs, and ensuring effective information sharing for informed decision-making. The Director will also oversee the development and implementation of advocacy strategies, manage budgeting and financial accountability, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the INGO Forum Director include providing leadership to the Forum by promoting delegation, accountability, and teamwork among members. The Director will ensure transparent coordination mechanisms and facilitate regular information sharing between INGOs and other stakeholders. This includes organizing high-quality meetings for Country Directors and thematic working groups to enhance strategic and operational coordination. The Director will represent INGO interests in external meetings and guide common advocacy efforts. Additionally, the role involves overseeing the development and implementation of the JIF Advocacy Strategy, managing the Secretariat staff, and ensuring compliance with established procedures and policies. The Director will also be responsible for fundraising efforts to secure necessary funds for the Forum's operations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess undergraduate or postgraduate qualifications in international relations, political science, development, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior management role within an INGO, particularly in protracted crisis or post-conflict settings, is required. Additional experience in coordination roles within both humanitarian and development contexts is preferred. Proven management, coordination, and advocacy skills in conflict-affected environments are essential. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication, leadership, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, along with documented experience in developing proposals, budgets, and reports. Familiarity with international law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">humanitarian law and the UN system, as well as knowledge of humanitarian architecture and the HDP Nexus, is advantageous.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a degree in international relations, political science, development, or a closely related field. Experience: The position requires candidates to have at least 5 years of relevant experience in a senior management role within an INGO, particularly in settings characterized by protracted crises or post-conflict situations. Experience in coordination roles that bridge humanitarian and development efforts is highly desirable, as it reflects the multifaceted nature of the work involved in this position.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this role, with strong writing and editing skills being essential. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an added value, enhancing communication and engagement with local stakeholders and communities.
