Job Overview: The Business Operations and Coordination Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the Operations Management Team (OMT) and the Resident Coordinator Office (RCO) in Fiji. This position involves coordinating day-to-day operations, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring effective communication among OMT members. The consultant will be responsible for implementing Business Operations Strategy (BOS) activities, which include data collection, analysis, and sharing information with relevant stakeholders. The role requires a proactive approach to facilitate capacity-building workshops, prepare reports, and support the overall efficiency agenda of the UN in Fiji. The consultant will also act as a secretariat for various working groups, ensuring that meetings are organized, agendas are drafted, and action points are followed up. This position is essential for promoting a One UN approach and fostering collaboration among UN agencies and government counterparts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Business Operations and Coordination Consultant will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: coordinating the implementation of BOS activities, providing administrative and logistical support for BOS preparation, preparing reports for DOCO/HQ, conducting assessments of BOS implementation, preparing common services budgets, organizing procurement processes, managing contracts for common services, and facilitating office space management. The consultant will also support the Crisis Management Team, act as a secretariat for the OMT and Interagency Occupational Health and Safety Working Group, and engage in knowledge management activities. Additionally, the consultant will be responsible for identifying lessons learned and best practices, participating in regional and global forums, and providing any additional support as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Business, Public Administration, Economics, Political or Social Science, or other relevant fields, along with the required years of experience. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in the same fields with additional years of experience may be considered. Proficiency in computer skills and relevant software applications is essential, as well as strong analytical and communication skills. The ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders, including UN agencies, government entities, and civil society organizations, is crucial. A good understanding of the governance structure in the Pacific and prior experience with the UN system, particularly with the RCO, will be advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate strong diplomatic skills, the ability to build partnerships, and a proactive approach to work.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in a relevant field is required, with at least 2 years of proven working experience in providing coordination, administrative, and operational support. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with at least 4 years of proven working experience can be considered. Candidates should have a strong academic background that supports their ability to perform the duties of the position effectively.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience for candidates with a Master's degree or at least 4 years for those with a Bachelor's degree.
