The PDD aims to support States and other stakeholders in implementing the recommendations of the Nansen Initiative Agenda for the Protection of Cross-Border Displaced Persons in the Context of Disasters and Climate Change. The organization operates globally, with a focus on sustainable development, climate action, and peacebuilding, and collaborates with various partners including governments, international financial institutions, and UN agencies. Job Overview:
The Pacific Region Policy Adviser will play a crucial role in providing technical assistance and leading the coordination of the PDD Secretariat's responsibilities under the Pacific Climate Mobility Partnerships Programme for the years 2026-202

• This position serves as the focal point on disaster displacement for governments and stakeholders in the Pacific region, particularly focusing on the implementation of the Pacific Regional Framework on Climate Mobility (PRFCM) and its Implementation Plan. The adviser will be responsible for facilitating peer-to-peer exchanges, promoting regional dialogues on planned relocation, and ensuring that Pacific Island countries actively engage in climate mobility dialogues. This role requires a strategic approach to policy alignment and the ability to translate frameworks into actionable support for regional initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Pacific Region Policy Adviser will represent the PDD Secretariat in the Pacific region, ensuring the visibility of the PDD's work and the implementation of its strategy for 2024-203

• Key responsibilities include providing technical support to the Government of Fiji on disaster displacement issues, leading the delivery of the Implementation Plan of the PRFCM, and guiding PDD responsibilities in the Pacific Climate Mobility Partnerships Programme. Specific duties include establishing a peer-to-peer exchange programme on planned relocation, developing capacity-building initiatives, facilitating regional climate mobility dialogues, and contributing to global advocacy initiatives related to climate change and disaster displacement. The adviser will also coordinate with IOM and other partners to ensure effective implementation of the programme's objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree (Master's) in fields such as International Development, Environment Studies, law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">International Law, International Relations, or Political Science from an accredited institution. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor) in these fields combined with two additional years of relevant professional experience may be considered. The position requires at least 7 years of progressively relevant professional experience in government, diplomatic, or international civil service, with significant work in migration, displacement, climate change, and humanitarian affairs. Experience working with Pacific countries and developing communications products is also essential.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree (Master's) in relevant fields is required, with a first-level university degree (Bachelor) considered if accompanied by additional professional experience. The educational background should ideally include studies related to international development, environmental studies, or political science, which are pertinent to the responsibilities of the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience, particularly in government, diplomatic, or international civil service roles. Candidates should have significant experience in migration, displacement, climate change, and humanitarian affairs, with a strong preference for those who have worked directly with Pacific countries. Experience in policy development, negotiations in multilateral settings, and organizing international conferences or workshops is also desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the Pacific region may be considered an asset, enhancing communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified at the senior level (ICS 11) and is a full-time role under an Individual Contractor Agreement (ICA) with a regular contract type. The contract duration is ongoing, and the position is based in Suva, Fiji.
