Job Overview:
The Senior Communications Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the World Food Programme's communication strategies, particularly in the context of the Pacific Island Countries and Territories (PICTs). This position involves working closely with the Partnerships, Communications, and Reports Officer to implement communication activities that enhance WFP's visibility and reputation. The incumbent will be responsible for planning, developing, and executing communication campaigns aimed at specific audiences, creating communication materials, and contributing to awareness initiatives. The role requires a proactive approach to storytelling, utilizing various media platforms to highlight the impact of WFP's operations and ensuring that all communications align with corporate messages and standards. The Senior Communications Associate will also monitor media coverage and maintain relationships with stakeholders to optimize publicity for WFP's activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be expected to perform a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: facilitating the planning, development, and execution of communication campaigns; creating communication materials for campaigns and awareness initiatives; capturing photos and videos for social media and reports; drafting content that highlights the impact of WFP operations; supporting the social media plan by developing content and utilizing platforms to enhance coverage; maintaining a multimedia database with relevant materials; serving as an information focal point for media coverage; organizing and executing special events; monitoring traditional and social media; distributing communications guidelines; and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders to identify collaboration opportunities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a post-secondary certificate in a relevant field, with a bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, or a related discipline being highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should have excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills, knowledge of UN system policies and functions, and proficiency in MS Office. Familiarity with WFP reporting and data systems is considered an advantage.

Educational Background:
A post-secondary certificate in a relevant field is required for this position. A bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, or a related discipline is highly desirable and considered an asset. Candidates with relevant work experience, professional training, or specialized courses will be viewed favorably.

Experience:
The position requires at least seven (7) years of professional experience in a relevant field, with a strong background and interest in international humanitarian development. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to effectively communicate and engage with diverse audiences, as well as their understanding of the challenges faced in humanitarian contexts.

Languages:
Fluency in the English language, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. Candidates should possess a level C proficiency in English, which indicates a high level of fluency and the ability to communicate effectively in professional settings. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not explicitly required.

The position is a Service Contract at Level 7 (SC7) with a duration of 12 months. The duty station for this role is Suva, Fiji.
