Job Overview:
The Communications Analyst position at UN Women in Dili, East Timor, is a pivotal role that involves assisting in the planning and implementation of the office's communications and advocacy strategies. The primary goal of this position is to enhance the visibility and awareness of UN Women among partners, the media, and the public. The Communications Analyst will work closely with various teams within the country office, including Programme, Operations, and technical teams, as well as with other UN agencies, government officials, media representatives, donors, and civil society organizations. This role requires a strategic approach to communication, ensuring that gender perspectives are integrated into all outreach and advocacy efforts. The Communications Analyst will be responsible for conducting communication needs assessments, analyzing media trends, and developing communication strategies that align with UN Women's goals. Additionally, the position involves managing media relations, developing advocacy materials, and maintaining the organization's online presence, including social media and website content. The Communications Analyst will also facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity building through training and workshops, ensuring that best practices are identified and disseminated effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Communications Analyst include:

• Planning and designing communication and outreach/advocacy strategies and plans.
• Conducting communication needs assessments for the country office, including projects and corporate initiatives.
• Analyzing requirements and synthesizing proposals for communication strategies, ensuring a gender perspective is included.
• Integrating communication, advocacy, and outreach strategies into project proposals and initiatives.
• Monitoring and analyzing print and social media, drafting reports on findings.
• Coordinating corporate and local campaigns and special events for UN Women.
• Developing and producing communication materials such as press releases, briefing materials, and articles.
• Managing relationships with the press, responding to inquiries, and organizing press events.
• Building and maintaining partnerships with donors and advocacy partners to enhance visibility. 1
• Managing the content and maintenance of the country office's website and social media accounts. 1
• Facilitating knowledge building and sharing through training and workshops on communication and advocacy. 1
• Ensuring timely dissemination of advocacy materials and maintaining regular interactions with mass media.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Communications Analyst position include:

• A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in communications, public relations, journalism, or a relevant field is required.
• A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
• At least 2 years of professional work experience at the national or international level in public relations, communications, or advocacy.
• Experience in media relations is considered an asset.
• Proficiency in the use of social media for outreach and engagement is essential.
• Strong communication, presentation, networking, and advocacy skills are necessary for success in this role.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the Communications Analyst position includes a Master’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field. Alternatively, candidates with a first-level university degree and two additional years of relevant experience may also qualify. Experience:
Candidates for the Communications Analyst position should possess at least 2 years of professional work experience in public relations, communications, or advocacy at either the national or international level.
