The SSA Engineer will work under the supervision of the Head of Finance and Management Services Unit and will coordinate closely with the Management Services Officer, architectural firms, and contractors. • Pre-Construction Phase: Reviewing and understanding approved architectural drawings, verifying site conditions, coordinating with relevant parties before work commencement, and providing technical comments on the contractor’s work plan.
  • Construction Supervision: Ensuring that works are executed according to approved designs and specifications, supervising daily site activities, monitoring progress, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
  • Coordination: Facilitating communication between WFP, architectural firms, and contractors, attending site meetings, and preparing meeting minutes.
  • Quality Control: Inspecting materials, conducting periodic inspections, and recommending acceptance or rejection of completed works based on compliance with standards.
  • Reporting: Preparing regular progress reports, documenting site issues, and providing recommendations for improvements.
  • Time and Cost Monitoring: Tracking work progress, identifying delays, and proposing mitigation measures.
  • Health and Safety: Ensuring adherence to safety standards and monitoring the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Deliverables: Submitting inception reports, progress reports, site inspection reports, quality assurance checklists, and final completion reports.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the SSA Engineer position include a post-secondary certificate in civil engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related technical field. Strong knowledge of construction quality control, site safety, and practical site coordination is essential. Candidates should also possess the ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and technical specifications, and experience working with UN agencies or international organizations is desirable. Good written and oral communication skills in English are mandatory, and knowledge of the Myanmar language is an advantage.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed secondary school education and hold a post-secondary certificate in civil engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related technical field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the technical aspects of construction and renovation projects, ensuring that the candidate is equipped with the necessary knowledge to perform the duties effectively.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of six years of relevant experience in construction supervision, office renovation, fit-out, building maintenance, or similar works. This level of experience is necessary to ensure that the candidate has a solid understanding of the construction process, quality control measures, and the ability to manage site activities effectively. Demonstrated experience in supervising contractors and monitoring quality, safety, and progress on construction sites is particularly important.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in Myanmar and English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in the Myanmar language is considered an advantage, as it facilitates communication with local contractors and stakeholders. Strong communication skills are essential for preparing reports, coordinating with various parties, and ensuring that all project requirements are met.
