This initiative is part of the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) and aims to strengthen the institutional and programmatic capacities of these organizations. The training will focus on critical areas such as Results-Based Management (RBM), Project Design & Management, and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E), ensuring that the content aligns with UN Women and UN system standards. The consultant will work closely with the Programme Analyst and the program team to ensure that the training meets the needs identified through previous capacity needs assessments, which highlighted gaps in project management and evaluation skills among CSOs. The consultant will be expected to create a comprehensive training curriculum in Arabic and deliver an interactive online training session that incorporates adult learning methodologies. The role requires a strong understanding of gender equality, humanitarian action, and the specific challenges faced by CSOs in fragile contexts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
Design a comprehensive online training curriculum in Arabic tailored to the needs of women-led CSOs operating in humanitarian and peacebuilding contexts.
Deliver a 4-day interactive online training session utilizing adult learning and participatory methodologies.
Develop and submit a concise training report that includes key outcomes, lessons learned, and recommendations for future training initiatives.
Cover essential training topics including Results-Based Management (RBM), Project Design and Management, and Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), ensuring that all content is relevant and applicable to the participants' contexts.
Facilitate discussions and activities that promote engagement and practical application of the training material.
Provide ongoing support and resources to participants to enhance their learning experience and application of skills post-training.
Required Qualifications: The position requires the following qualifications:
A Master’s degree or equivalent in development studies, project management, public administration, social sciences, gender studies, or a related field is required.
A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
At least 5 years of progressively responsible work experience in Results-Based Management (RBM), project management, and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) is required.
Proven experience in delivering capacity-building training for CSOs, NGOs, or UN agencies is essential.
Experience working on gender equality, humanitarian action, peacebuilding, or Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) is desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as development studies, project management, public administration, social sciences, or gender studies. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of project management and gender issues in humanitarian contexts.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible work experience in areas such as Results-Based Management (RBM), project management, and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E). Candidates should have a strong track record of delivering capacity-building training specifically for civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, or UN agencies. Experience in gender equality, humanitarian action, peacebuilding, or Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) initiatives is considered an asset, as it demonstrates the candidate's ability to navigate the specific challenges faced in these sectors.
Languages: Fluency in Arabic is mandatory for this position, as the training will be conducted in Arabic and tailored to the needs of local CSOs. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an advantage, particularly if it enhances communication with diverse stakeholders or participants.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is home-based, meaning that no travel is required for the position. The consultant will be expected to work independently and deliver results within specified deadlines. The position does not specify a contract duration or seniority level, but it is implied that the role is part-time and project-based, focusing on the delivery of the training and associated reporting.
