Job Overview: The OIM & Performance Reports Officer position is crucial for the Operational Information Management and Performance Reporting (OIM&PR) function within WFP. This role involves supporting the establishment and presentation of a standard operating picture of WFP's program portfolio and associated results, which are essential for informed and timely decision-making at all organizational levels. The incumbent will report to the Head of the OIM&PR unit at the country office and will be responsible for coordinating, consolidating, and managing information flows to provide WFP leadership with a consistent, evidence-based operational picture. This position requires a proactive approach to ensure that standard OIM & PR procedures and templates are followed, driving the quality, consistency, and standardization of information management and performance reporting across WFP. The role also involves collating relevant information and data from various sources to maximize the exchange of information and facilitate operational awareness of events that may impact humanitarian efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the OIM & Performance Reports Officer include:
Supporting staff in the assigned area to ensure adherence to standard OIM & PR procedures and templates, enhancing the quality and consistency of information management and performance reporting across WFP.
Collating relevant information and data from media and local internal and external sources to facilitate the exchange of information and data flow between functional area networks within WFP.
Supporting the collation and dissemination of political and humanitarian analysis related to WFP's current or future responses and donor policies.
Analyzing and communicating the 'Essential Elements of Information' regarding the operational environment and available resources to ensure timely access to accurate information.
Assisting in the preparation of the Annual Corporate Report (ACR) by coordinating with various functions to ensure coherence and quality of performance information.
Collaborating with internal counterparts to ensure consistency in humanitarian information and complement WFP analysis.
Enhancing the capacity of WFP staff and partners in managing operational information and performance reporting through training and support.
Providing secretarial support to Operational Task Forces (OTFs) during emergencies.
Offering feedback on activities related to Corporate Performance Reporting Improvements. 1
Supporting initiatives for developing improved OIM & PR processes, including drafting normative guidance as required. 1
Ensuring defined quality standards are met in all processes and products.
Required Qualifications: The position requires the following qualifications:
Advanced University degree in Political Science, Economics, Statistics, Information Management, Journalism, Business Management, Social Sciences, or a related field. Alternatively, a First University degree with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training/courses may be accepted.
A total of 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 1 year of professional experience in international humanitarian development.
General knowledge of information management best practices, techniques, and processes, along with an understanding of the theoretical background.
Strong written and oral communication skills in English, including the ability to conduct substantive analysis and report writing.
Familiarity with UN/WFP specific processes and systems is advantageous.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an Advanced University degree in a relevant field such as Political Science, Economics, Statistics, Information Management, Journalism, Business Management, or Social Sciences. Alternatively, a First University degree combined with additional years of related work experience and/or training may be considered sufficient. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian operations and information management.
Experience: The role requires a total of 5 years of relevant experience, which must include at least 1 year of professional experience in international humanitarian development. This experience is crucial for understanding the operational challenges and dynamics within humanitarian contexts, as well as for effectively managing information and performance reporting.
Languages: Fluency in both written and oral English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication and collaboration within the diverse and multicultural environment of WFP. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
Additional Notes: This position is a Fixed Term contract at the NOA level, with a duration of 12 months. The role is based in Aden, Yemen, and involves working in a challenging humanitarian environment.
