Job Overview:
The Communication Specialist position focuses on enhancing communication, visibility, and knowledge management for a national, multi-institutional project aimed at conserving and sustainably using agrobiodiversity in Brazil. The role involves coordinating communication networks, developing institutional and journalistic content, and disseminating project results to various stakeholders, including policy-makers and partners. The incumbent will work closely with the Office of Communications and other communication focal points to ensure a unified narrative across the project. The position requires a proactive approach to managing communication strategies that highlight the project's activities, such as supporting Community Seed Banks and conservation efforts in Indigenous Lands and Traditional Agricultural Systems. The Communication Specialist will also be responsible for producing high-quality content for various communication channels, including websites, newsletters, and social media, while ensuring compliance with FAO standards and guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communication Specialist will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: activating and maintaining a support network among the communication centers of various Embrapa research units; coordinating joint communication actions to ensure a unified project narrative; producing high-quality journalistic content such as articles and news releases; contributing content to institutional websites and digital platforms; assisting in the development of the project's web landing page; disseminating project results to national policy-makers; liaising with communication focal points and stakeholders; ensuring visibility of FAO's role in all communication materials; monitoring media outreach outcomes; delivering audiovisual assets; organizing and securely storing video and photo records; generating relevant metadata for records; and securing necessary consent for image use.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in journalism or a related field, along with a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in institutional communication, journalism, or knowledge dissemination. A working knowledge of Spanish and/or English at level C, as well as a working knowledge of Portuguese, is required. Additionally, candidates must be Brazilian nationals. The FAO core competencies expected from candidates include a focus on results, teamwork, effective communication, building relationships, and knowledge sharing. Technical skills required include proven experience in producing written content for institutional purposes, familiarity with digital communication tools, and experience in communication related to agriculture, biodiversity, or rural development.

Educational Background:
The position requires a university degree in journalism or a related field. Candidates must have their educational qualifications recognized by an institution accredited in the World Higher Education Database (WHED).

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in institutional communication, journalism, or knowledge dissemination. Experience in communication related to agriculture, biodiversity, environment, or rural development is highly desirable. Previous experience with the United Nations or international cooperation projects is also beneficial.

Languages:
The mandatory languages for this position include Portuguese, with a working knowledge of Spanish and/or English at level C being advantageous. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication within the role.
