Job Overview: The Supply Officer will play a crucial role in managing supply services and ensuring the efficient operation of logistics within the UN framework. This position requires a proactive approach to developing and managing technical contracts for support services, as well as planning and preparing cost estimates and long-term forecasts for the organization's needs. The Supply Officer will monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and design business analytics reports to enhance property and asset management. The role also involves conducting market research to adapt best practices in contract development to meet UN requirements. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring accurate accounting and reporting systems are in place, analyzing problems, and providing remedial action programs as necessary. The Supply Officer will also oversee warehouse operations and manage complex inventory transactions, ensuring that all equipment and supplies are accounted for and distributed appropriately.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Supply Officer will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: developing and managing technical contracts for support services; preparing cost estimates and long-term forecasts; monitoring KPIs and designing business analytics reports; supervising asset management and property management functions; initiating actions for the disposal of items; conducting market research; establishing mission requirements; conducting technical survey visits; developing plans for asset redeployment; ensuring accurate accounting and reporting systems; analyzing problems and audit reports; maintaining control of equipment and stores; managing central warehouse operations; preparing receiving and inspection reports; monitoring procurement status; reviewing and preparing supply-related cases; providing guidance to junior staff; and performing other duties as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, technical or vocational certificates in business administration, public administration, engineering, law, or other relevant fields are required. The position demands a strong understanding of supply chain management and logistics, as well as the ability to adapt to the unique requirements of the UN.
Educational Background: A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Candidates with technical or vocational certificates in relevant fields such as business administration, public administration, engineering, or law will be preferred. A first-level university degree may reduce the required years of experience.
Experience: Candidates must have a minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in supply services, property and asset management, logistics, engineering, project management, or a related area. For those with a first-level university degree, the minimum experience requirement is reduced to five (5) years. Experience in mission liquidation activities, including developing PADP and finalizing ADP, is essential. Proficiency in SAP ERP (Umoja ECC) and Umoja Business Analytics (BA) is required, along with experience in supply, asset, property, and inventory management within international organizations.
Languages: English is the required working language for this position, with a minimum proficiency level of UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. French is also recognized as a working language of the UN, but English proficiency is mandatory for this role.
Additional Notes: This position is temporarily available for 364 days. If the selected candidate is a staff member from the United Nations Secretariat, the selection will be administered as a temporary assignment.
