Job Overview: The IOM Project Support Assistant for Cash-Based Interventions (CBI) plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation of cash-based assistance programs aimed at providing financial support to vulnerable populations. This position involves coordinating with various stakeholders, including local authorities, NGOs, and community organizations, to ensure effective delivery of cash assistance. The assistant will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the impact of cash interventions, collecting data, and providing reports to inform decision-making processes. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapting to the needs of the project and the beneficiaries.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the planning and implementation of cash-based interventions, ensuring alignment with IOM policies and guidelines.
Coordinate with local partners and stakeholders to facilitate the delivery of cash assistance to beneficiaries.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of cash interventions, collecting data and feedback from beneficiaries.
Prepare regular reports on the progress of cash-based programs, highlighting challenges and successes.
Support the development of training materials and capacity-building initiatives for local partners involved in cash assistance programs.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting requirements related to cash disbursements.
Participate in meetings and workshops to represent IOM and share best practices in cash-based interventions.
Assist in the identification of potential beneficiaries and ensure that selection criteria are met.
Provide logistical support for cash distribution activities, including organizing venues and coordinating transportation.
Required Qualifications:
Strong understanding of cash-based interventions and humanitarian assistance principles.
Excellent organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Strong analytical skills, with experience in data collection and reporting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data management software.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and engage with diverse stakeholders.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and Khmer.
Educational Background: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social sciences, international relations, development studies, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in project management or humanitarian assistance would be an asset.
Experience: At least 2 years of relevant work experience in project support, preferably in the field of cash-based interventions or humanitarian assistance. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English and Khmer is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in the region would be considered an advantage.
Additional Notes: This position is a full-time role based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The contract duration is initially for one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The role may involve occasional travel to project sites within Cambodia.
