Job Overview:
The position of Women's Rights and Gender Equality National Consultancy involves facilitating a two-day regional meeting focused on gender equality, women's rights, personal status laws, and family law reform across the Arab States region. The consultant will work under the guidance of UN Women’s Regional Governance Adviser and collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including the Programme Specialist and Operations Team. The role requires a subject matter expert who can provide substantive expertise and facilitate discussions, ensuring that the meeting's objectives are met effectively. The consultant will also be responsible for preparing a summary report with recommendations based on the discussions held during the meeting.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's primary duties include reviewing background materials and the meeting agenda, facilitating all sessions and discussions, guiding dialogue on gender equality and personal status laws, moderating plenaries and breakout groups, and preparing a summary report with actionable recommendations. The consultant will engage with key partners and stakeholders as necessary, ensuring that the meeting is productive and that all voices are heard. Additionally, the consultant will be expected to travel for three days as part of the assignment, which will involve office-based work and official travel to relevant locations.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Law, Gender Studies, Human Rights, Political Science, or related fields. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. The position requires at least two years of professional experience in gender equality, women's rights, and legal reform, with a strong emphasis on facilitating high-level regional consultations. Demonstrated expertise in personal status and family laws across the Arab States region is essential, and academic, research, or legal scholarship experience is considered desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in relevant fields such as Law, Gender Studies, Human Rights, or Political Science. Candidates with a first-level university degree may be considered if they have additional qualifying experience. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of gender equality and legal reform in the Arab States region.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience, either internationally or nationally, in areas related to gender equality, women's rights, and legal reform. Candidates should have experience in facilitating high-level regional consultations, showcasing their ability to manage discussions effectively in a multicultural setting. Languages:

This consultancy is office-based, with a requirement for three days of travel as part of the assignment.
