• The UN Resident Coordinator Offices (RCO) play a crucial role in supporting countries in their development priorities and SDG attainment, operating under the leadership of the UN Resident Coordinator, who is the highest-ranking UN official in the country. The UN Development Operations Coordination Office (DCO) oversees the Resident Coordinator System, ensuring that it is well-equipped to support the 2030 Agenda and embody the UN's commitment to innovation and data-driven approaches. The UN RCO in Cairo is part of this global framework, focusing on strategic partnerships and resource mobilization to advance sustainable development in Egypt.

Job Overview:
The Partnerships Officer position is integral to the UN Resident Coordinator Office in Cairo, Egypt. The role involves providing strategic support for the development and coordination of partnerships aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Partnerships Officer will work closely with the Senior Development Coordination Officer and the UN Country Team (UNCT) to implement the UN Partnership Strategy, which aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework. This position requires a proactive approach to building relationships with civil society, development partners, and the private sector, facilitating joint initiatives and advocacy efforts. The officer will also participate in resource mobilization initiatives, supporting the management of pooled funds and ensuring effective collaboration among various stakeholders. The role demands a strong understanding of sustainable development principles and the ability to navigate complex partnership dynamics to drive progress towards the SDGs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Partnerships Officer will be responsible for a variety of duties, including:

• Assisting with the provision of substantive support for strategic planning and coordination of UNCT strategic partnerships with civil society, development partners, and the private sector for SDG achievement. This includes advising on the development and implementation of the UN Partnership Strategy, conducting liaison and coordination with UN entities, and serving as a key entry point for external stakeholders.
• Participating in joint partnership and resource mobilization initiatives, providing support to develop and implement resource mobilization strategies, monitoring existing partnerships, and advising on corporate policies related to resource management.
• Working closely with the RCO economist and finance experts to promote partnerships that support financing for SDGs, preparing briefing papers, and contributing to advocacy efforts.
• Contributing to knowledge management and capacity development related to partnerships and resource mobilization, promoting collaboration and sharing best practices within the UN system.
• Performing any other duties related to the function of the RCO as requested, ensuring that all activities align with the UN's mission and objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, sustainable development, social sciences, education, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Successful completion of degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is considered an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of sustainable development theories and concepts, as well as the ability to conduct independent research and analysis.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in relevant fields such as business or public administration, sustainable development, social sciences, or education. A first-level university degree may be accepted with additional qualifying experience. Completion of programs in data analytics or related areas is advantageous, indicating a preference for candidates with a strong analytical skill set.

Experience:
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in strategic support to partnerships, project/programme management, and resource mobilization in the context of development cooperation is required. Candidates should have a proven track record in developing strategic partnerships across various sectors, including government, private sector, and civil society organizations. Experience in designing and implementing partnerships, as well as resource mobilization strategies, is essential. Familiarity with UN interagency coordination and knowledge management in development cooperation is desirable, along with experience in specific areas such as food systems, digital transformation, and public-private partnerships.

Languages:
For this position, proficiency in English and Arabic is required, with both languages being the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Candidates must demonstrate a minimum level of proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking for both languages, as per the UN Language Framework. Knowledge of French is an advantage but not mandatory.

This is a Fixed Term position available for a duration of one year, with no expectation of renewal. The appointment is subject to budgetary approval and the availability of the post.
