Job Overview:
The Analyst position within the Environment and Sustainability Division is designed to support the ESD team in fulfilling the Bank's commitments under its Environmental and Social Policy. This role involves a comprehensive approach to environmental and social appraisal and monitoring of the Bank's diverse portfolio of projects across various sectors. The Analyst will engage in oversight and verification of the Bank's methodologies, assessments, and reporting processes related to environmental and social commitments. The position requires collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure compliance with environmental and social standards, as well as contributing to the continuous improvement of internal processes. The Analyst will also be responsible for conducting research, analyzing data, and drafting publications that communicate findings and recommendations effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Analyst will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: working on assigned projects and initiatives as part of a team, supporting the assessment of Environmental and Social Policy (ESP) compliance, evaluating environmental and social risks, impacts, and opportunities, and monitoring and reporting on compliance and assurance activities. The Analyst will conduct thorough research, review relevant documents and strategies, and perform analytical and technical reviews. They will develop methodologies for monitoring outputs and outcomes, manage data effectively, and draft both internal and external publications. Additionally, the Analyst will coordinate meetings and events as needed, interact with stakeholders at various levels, and contribute to the enhancement of internal processes related to data management and reporting. The role requires adherence to the Bank's Behavioral Competencies and Corporate Behaviours, ensuring a collaborative and effective working environment.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree in environmental and/or social sciences, economics, engineering, or a related field, or have comparable professional experience. A strong understanding of environmental and social risks, as well as familiarity with international environmental and social standards and guidelines, is essential. Knowledge of financing instruments and approaches is advantageous, along with an understanding of the scientific, economic, and political dimensions of environmental and social issues. Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are critical. Candidates should also demonstrate strong analytical and quantitative skills, as well as excellent written and spoken English. Familiarity with a language relevant to the EBRD's countries of operation is a plus, and fluency in a local language is required for resident office appointments.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a degree in environmental sciences, social sciences, economics, engineering, or a related discipline. Candidates with comparable professional experience in relevant fields may also be considered. The role demands a solid foundation in environmental and social standards, as well as an understanding of the principles of sustainable development and project management.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have relevant experience in environmental and social assessment, compliance monitoring, or related fields. Experience working in a multicultural environment and building effective relationships with clients and colleagues is essential.
