Job Overview: The Partnerships Analyst position is a critical role within the North Africa Multi-Country Office (NAMCO) of UNOPS, aimed at supporting the organization's expanded mandate across North Africa and the Indian Ocean Small Island Developing States (SIDS). The Partnerships Analyst will be responsible for identifying and developing new project opportunities, cultivating relationships with partners and donors, and advancing resource mobilization efforts in a dynamic development landscape. Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Development and Positioning of UNOPS: Identify and assess potential project and business opportunities aligned with UNOPS' mandate and strategic priorities. Analyze development priorities, government programs, donor strategies, and emerging needs to identify opportunities for UNOPS engagement. Lead the development of expressions of interest, concept notes, proposals, and other project development documents. Coordinate with internal teams and prospective partners to clarify project requirements and develop project concepts. Prepare substantive partner profiles and opportunity assessments for project development discussions. Maintain and analyze information on prospective projects and partner intelligence to support project pipeline development.
Partnerships and Resource Mobilization: Identify and assess funding and partnership opportunities with various stakeholders, including governments, UN entities, and international financial institutions. Contribute to the implementation of the Multi-Country Office's partnership and resource mobilization priorities. Develop and maintain a structured overview of key partners and funding opportunities. Build and maintain effective working relationships with partners and support targeted engagement. Prepare and coordinate inputs for donor and partner meetings and resource mobilization activities.
Strategic Planning and Positioning: Contribute to the development and implementation of the Multi-Country Office's strategic positioning and resource mobilization priorities. Analyze development trends and government priorities to identify strategic opportunities for UNOPS. Prepare analytical and strategic inputs to inform management decisions and external engagements.
Communication and Knowledge Management: Provide communication and knowledge-management support to partnership and project development activities. Contribute to the visibility of UNOPS through events, publications, and outreach activities. Maintain relevant information and document engagement outcomes to facilitate knowledge sharing.
Other Responsibilities: Ensure accurate maintenance of partnership and project development information in UNOPS systems. Contribute to internal reporting on partnership development and resource mobilization. Support cross-functional initiatives related to partnerships and project development.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a Master's degree or equivalent in international affairs, business administration, or development studies, with no prior experience required. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in the same fields is acceptable, provided the candidate has at least 2 years of relevant experience. Candidates must demonstrate experience in partnership development, resource mobilization, or project development, as well as experience working with internal and external partners, including governments and international donors. Proficiency in professional proposal writing is also essential. Previous experience in North Africa and familiarity with Google Suite tools and web-based management systems are desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in international affairs, business administration, or development studies. If holding a Bachelor's degree, candidates must have at least 2 years of relevant experience in the field. Candidates should have experience working directly with internal and external partners, including governments and international donors, and should be skilled in professional proposal writing. Previous experience in North Africa is preferred, along with a good knowledge of Google Suite tools and experience in handling web-based management systems. Experience in UNOPS or other UN agencies is also desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is required for this position, while basic proficiency in French and Arabic is desirable. The ability to communicate effectively in English is essential for engaging with international partners and stakeholders, while knowledge of French and Arabic can enhance communication with local partners and communities.
Additional Notes: The position is classified as an Associate level role (ICS 08) and is offered on a contract basis as an Individual Contractor Agreement (ICA) - LICA Specialist - Regular. The contract duration is for one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs.
