Job Overview: The Knowledge Management Consultant will provide essential technical support to enhance information and knowledge management within the Health Emergencies Programme. This role focuses on developing, standardizing, and ensuring the quality of information products, strengthening knowledge repositories, and facilitating knowledge-sharing activities. The consultant will work closely with various teams to promote organizational learning and evidence-informed decision-making, ultimately improving emergency preparedness and response capabilities. The position requires a proactive approach to capturing lessons learned and good practices, developing learning resources, and coordinating Communities of Practice.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical support for the development and maintenance of standardized information management products and tools, including situation reports, bulletins, and technical briefs.
Review existing information management products to identify opportunities for standardization and improvement.
Develop and revise information management templates and SOPs, ensuring quality and consistency.
Organize existing knowledge resources and document repositories, mapping existing resources and supporting classification and cataloguing.
Develop and maintain a centralized knowledge repository, ensuring user-friendliness and accessibility.
Document and disseminate organizational learning, including lessons learned and good practices.
Assess and document learning and capacity-building needs related to information management.
Develop training materials and support the implementation and evaluation of learning activities.
Required Qualifications: Essential qualifications include a first university degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Information Management, Knowledge Management, or a related field. Desirable qualifications include an advanced degree in public health and additional training in knowledge management or related areas. Candidates should demonstrate excellent technical writing and editing skills, the ability to synthesize complex information, and strong knowledge management capabilities.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess at least a first university degree in relevant fields such as Public Health, Epidemiology, or Knowledge Management. An advanced degree is preferred, along with additional qualifications in related areas such as learning and development or public health emergencies.
Experience: Candidates should have up to 5 years of relevant professional experience in information management, knowledge management, or public health. Demonstrated experience in developing and managing information products is essential, along with a strong background in organizational learning and capacity development.
Languages: Fluency in English at an expert level (reading, writing, speaking) is mandatory. Proficiency in Arabic at an intermediate level or higher is highly desirable. Knowledge of other UN languages is considered an asset.
Additional Notes: The consultancy is home-based and part-time, with an expected duration of 6 months. The consultant may be required to travel for workshops, training, or knowledge-sharing events. Remuneration is at the NOB level, and travel costs are excluded.
