Job Overview: The National Consultant for Coordination and Communications Support will play a vital role in supporting inter-agency coordination and stakeholder engagement for UN Women’s initiatives, particularly the joint programme Zero Hunger Accelerator (JP ZHA). This programme aims to strengthen inclusive, climate-resilient food systems in the Philippines by mobilizing innovative local and blended financing. The consultant will be responsible for ensuring coherence and synergy across various engagements, assisting in the planning and rollout of communications and advocacy strategies, and developing materials that effectively communicate UN Women’s strategic positioning. The consultant will also track progress on coordination and communications activities, document lessons learned, and recommend adjustments for improved effectiveness. This position requires a proactive approach to collaboration and communication, ensuring that UN Women’s contributions are well-aligned with the goals of the joint programme and other initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support inter-agency coordination and stakeholder engagement by attending meetings and collaborative processes, tracking follow-up actions to strengthen alignment and ensure UN Women’s contributions are recognized.
Provide coordination support with external partners and consultants involved in JP ZHA and other UN Women initiatives, ensuring effective collaboration and synergy across engagements.
Assist in the planning, preparation, and implementation of communications and advocacy strategies, ensuring consistent messaging and visibility for UN Women’s initiatives.
Develop briefs, reports, presentations, and visual materials that synthesize key insights and strategically position UN Women.
Track progress of coordination and communications activities, documenting lessons learned and recommending adjustments for greater effectiveness.
Submit monthly progress reports detailing completed work and finalized deliverables/outputs as outlined in the scope of work.
Respond to any other requests within the functional profile as guided by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of secondary education is required.
A Bachelor's degree in international development, communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field is required.
At least 7 years of progressively responsible work experience in inter-agency/stakeholder coordination and engagement, programme coordination, or communications and advocacy is required.
Experience working on gender equality and development issues in the context of the Philippines is required.
Proven experience in preparing analytical reports, policy briefs, and visual communication materials is required.
Experience in managing and curating content across social media platforms is required.
Familiarity with the UN system and inter-agency coordination processes is desirable.
Educational Background: The position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in international development, communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field. Completion of secondary education is also a prerequisite, indicating that candidates should have a solid educational foundation to support their professional capabilities in this role.
Experience: Candidates must have at least 7 years of progressively responsible work experience in areas such as inter-agency/stakeholder coordination and engagement, programme coordination, or communications and advocacy. This experience should include a strong focus on gender equality and development issues, particularly within the context of the Philippines. Additionally, candidates should have experience in preparing analytical reports, policy briefs, and visual communication materials, as well as managing content across social media platforms. Familiarity with the UN system and inter-agency coordination processes is considered an asset.
Languages: Fluency in English and Filipino is required for this position. Knowledge of any other UN official language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a diverse and multilingual environment.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is home-based, with the consultant required to report to the UN Women Philippines office as needed. The consultant may access the office for document printing or on-site work as required. There may be at least one mission related to the scope of work, which will be arranged by UN Women and compensated separately in accordance with UN Women’s travel policy.
