Job Overview:
The internship program at the IAEA is designed to provide students and recent graduates with practical work experience in the field of nuclear safety and security. Interns will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals and gain insights into the operations of the IAEA and the broader United Nations system. The main focus of this internship is to assist nuclear safety officers in implementing a coordinated research project related to the design of experiments for fuels and materials testing in research reactors. Interns will also support the organization of technical meetings and workshops, contributing to the overall safety and security of nuclear installations worldwide. Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:

• Supporting the conduct of the coordinated research project on 'Design of Experiments for Fuels and Materials Testing in Research Reactors', which involves reviewing research proposals and preparing for research coordination meetings.
• Assisting in the preparation and conduct of training workshops for reviewers of integrated safety assessments of research reactor missions, including the development of training materials.
• Contributing to the organization of the International Meeting on the Application of the Code of Conduct on the Safety of Research Reactors, including logistical support and preparation of relevant documentation.
• Collecting and analyzing data related to safety issues and trends for research reactors, and preparing reports and presentations based on this information.
• Collaborating with team members to achieve project goals and contribute to the overall success of the IAEA's initiatives in nuclear safety.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in nuclear engineering or physics. They should have an excellent command of MS Office applications, particularly MS Word and MS PowerPoint, and experience with MS Excel, MS SharePoint, MS Teams, and MS Copilot. Strong time management skills, attention to detail, and effective oral and written communication abilities are essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to gather and analyze information and data, as well as possess strong interpersonal skills to facilitate teamwork and collaboration. Knowledge of nuclear reactor safety and physics is required, and familiarity with IAEA safety standards is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be at least 20 years old and have completed a minimum of three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards a first degree. They may apply up to one year after completing their bachelor's, master's, or doctorate degree. It is important that candidates have not previously participated in the IAEA's internship program.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandatory, candidates should demonstrate relevant academic knowledge and skills related to nuclear engineering or physics. Experience in research or academic projects related to nuclear safety or reactor physics will be advantageous. Interns are expected to be proactive and willing to learn, contributing to the team's efforts effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is essential for this position. Additionally, proficiency in any other IAEA official language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish, or Russian, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application.
