Job Overview:
The Data & Modeling Analysts (DMAs) position at the IMF's Institute for Capacity Development (ICD) is designed for individuals who are dynamic, highly motivated, and possess strong skills in data management, research design, and economic analysis. The successful candidates will be expected to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. The primary responsibilities of the DMAs include managing and structuring datasets that underpin the ICD's macroeconomic forecasting models, ensuring the ongoing development and adoption of these modeling frameworks. The role requires a strong focus on data management and governance, technical implementation, and macroeconomic analysis, as well as collaboration on software development and support for country economists in adopting new software tools.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The DMAs will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: managing, structuring, and maintaining databases and data pipelines that support macroeconomic frameworks software; ensuring data quality, integrity, and consistent documentation of data lineage; establishing and applying data governance standards in coordination with ICD's broader data management practices; supporting Fund economists in creating, maintaining, and improving macroeconomic frameworks and models; assisting country teams with the adoption of newly developed macroframeworks software; converting databases to new systems; helping with data cleanup and transformations; developing and linking macroeconomic models to the macroframework software; contributing to refinements of the internal software package for macroframeworks; liaising closely with the IT team on business requirement developments and updates; testing use cases from country teams and developer requests; and contributing to documentation updates.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree or equivalent in data management, programming/systems, computer science, statistics, finance, mathematics, economics, or a related field of study. They should have relevant work experience in a similar role, demonstrating excellent data management and analytical skills. Experience with relational databases, data governance, and data quality assurance practices is essential. Additionally, candidates should have a good knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R, or Matlab, and familiarity with SQL or other database query languages. An interest in or experience using large language models (LLMs) for code development is also desirable. Critical competencies for the position include strong spoken and written communication skills in English, sound organizational and data management skills, the ability to handle multiple responsibilities under tight time constraints, and the capacity to work independently with attention to detail.
