Job Overview:
The Finance Associate position is crucial for ensuring the operational efficiency and compliance of FHI 360's programs in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, particularly in response to the Ebola virus outbreak declared on May 15, 202
  • Under the supervision of the Finance Officer, the Finance Associate will be responsible for managing various payments related to program activities, reconciling financial documents, and archiving accounting records within the finance office. This role requires a strong understanding of financial procedures and compliance, as the Finance Associate will ensure that all payments made under the STRIDES program are justified and documented according to FHI 360's established protocols. The position demands a proactive approach to financial management and a commitment to maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of financial information.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Finance Associate will support the Finance Officer in verifying financial and accounting documents, which includes receiving invoices from suppliers, checking their accuracy, and ensuring all supporting documentation is complete before processing payments. The Associate will establish liquidity needs in consultation with the Finance Officer for payments, prepare payments for suppliers and partners while ensuring strict adherence to FHI 360's procedures, and manage disbursements related to program activities. Additionally, the Associate will verify payment justifications, scan all accounting documents, and upload them to the country office's SharePoint in a timely manner. The role also involves guiding program staff on the defined procedures and ensuring that activities comply with various terms of reference, reporting any discrepancies to the supervisor. The Finance Associate will be responsible for organizing and archiving accounting documents according to FHI 360's procedures, ensuring the security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, reliability, and confidentiality of financial information, and assisting in the organization and preparation of audits and monthly financial statements. Furthermore, the Associate will verify petty cash expenditures to ensure they are accurate and well-documented.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a university degree (BAC minimum) in management, accounting, economics, or a related field. A strong background in finance and accounting is essential, with 3 to 5 years of proven professional experience in these areas. Previous work experience within programs funded by the U.S. government (Department of State) is a significant advantage. Experience in a national and/or international NGO in a similar role is also preferred. Proficiency in office tools such as Word, Excel, and Outlook is required, along with excellent written and oral communication skills in French. Knowledge of a local language and English is considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate strong writing skills, the ability to meet deadlines, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality. Attributes such as rigor, flexibility, teamwork, honesty, and availability are essential, along with the ability to handle stress and a good capacity for listening and taking initiative.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of a university degree (BAC minimum) in fields such as management, accounting, economics, or any other relevant area related to the position. Experience:
The position requires 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in accounting and finance. Candidates with prior experience working in programs funded by the U.S. government will have a competitive advantage. Languages:
Fluency in French, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in a local language is also required, and knowledge of English is considered an asset.
