Job Overview:
The NATO China Policy Officer will work within the Political Affairs and Security Policy (PASP) Division, specifically in the Indo-Pacific Section. This role is crucial for developing and implementing NATO's policy towards China and managing relations with Indo-Pacific partners such as Australia, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Mongolia, and Pakistan. The officer will monitor and analyze developments related to China, advising NATO leadership on policy formulation and implementation. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including NATO HQ, member states, and international organizations, to ensure a cohesive approach to security in the Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific regions. The officer will also represent NATO at meetings and conferences, contributing to discussions on security policy and international relations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the NATO China Policy Officer include:

• Policy Development: Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on developments in and around China, advising NATO leadership on policy development and implementation.
• Stakeholder Management: Coordinating NATO's policy towards China with various counterparts, maintaining relationships with allies, partner countries, and international organizations.
• Expertise Development: Preparing and editing documents, memoranda, and background materials related to NATO's policy.
• Representation: Representing the Indo-Pacific Section at meetings, giving presentations, and contributing to briefings.
• Additional Duties: Performing any other related duties as assigned by the Head of the Indo-Pacific Section.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess a university degree in political science, international relations, security studies, or a related field. They should have at least four years of relevant experience in diplomatic missions, policy writing, or security and defense expertise, particularly concerning China. Excellent knowledge of international affairs and defense policy issues is essential, with a focus on the Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific regions. Strong drafting and communication skills are required, along with proficiency in NATO's official languages (English/French) at an advanced level in one and beginner level in the other. A working knowledge of Mandarin and experience with Indo-Pacific countries would be advantageous.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a university degree in a relevant discipline such as political science, international relations, or security studies. This educational background is critical for understanding the complexities of international relations and security policy, particularly in relation to NATO's strategic interests in the Indo-Pacific region and its interactions with China.

Experience:

Additional Notes:
The position offers a definite duration contract of three years, with the possibility of renewal for an additional three years. The maximum period of service in this post is six years.
