Job Overview:
Under the supervision of the Deputy Country Director - Programs, the mission of the Responsible of the Nutrition and Health Department will be to define strategies and coordinate Action contre la Faim's interventions in Chad in the field of health and nutrition. Specifically, the responsibilities will include designing, capitalizing on, and evaluating nutritional and health interventions as well as advocacy actions in this sector. The role will also involve monitoring and coordinating programs in the areas of nutrition and health, managing the Nutrition Health team in the capital (including one deputy) and ensuring functional management of the Nutrition Health Program Managers in the field bases. Additionally, the position requires developing and animating programs and advocacy in partnership with national and local stakeholders, and representing Action contre la Faim while advocating for its positions in the health and nutrition sectors.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities for this position include:
  • Designing and evaluating nutrition and health interventions, ensuring they align with the organization's mission and objectives.
  • Coordinating and monitoring ongoing programs in nutrition and health, ensuring they meet the required standards and are effectively implemented.
  • Managing the Nutrition Health team, providing guidance and support to team members, and ensuring effective communication and collaboration within the team.
  • Developing partnerships with national and local actors to enhance program effectiveness and advocacy efforts.
  • Representing Action contre la Faim in various forums and discussions related to health and nutrition, advocating for the organization's positions and strategies.
  • Conducting regular assessments and evaluations of programs to ensure continuous improvement and adaptation to changing needs.
  • Preparing reports and documentation related to program activities, outcomes, and challenges, and presenting them to stakeholders as required.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include:
  • A higher education degree in health or nutrition, with initial training as a doctor or nurse.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the international humanitarian sector, demonstrating a solid understanding of the challenges and dynamics involved.
  • Strong knowledge of protocols for managing malnutrition and proven experience in supporting, managing, and developing the skills of technical teams.
  • Excellent coordination, planning, and monitoring skills for national-level programs, along with experience in external representation and partnership development.
  • A rigorous, autonomous, and proactive approach, with strong analytical, writing, synthesis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills in French, both oral and written, with proficiency in English being an additional asset.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a higher education degree in health or nutrition. This educational background is essential to ensure that the individual has the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage nutrition and health programs, understand the complexities of malnutrition, and implement appropriate interventions.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in the international humanitarian sector. This experience should include direct involvement in nutrition and health programs, demonstrating the ability to manage teams, coordinate activities, and engage with various stakeholders effectively. Experience in emergency contexts and familiarity with the challenges faced in humanitarian settings will be particularly valuable.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, both spoken and written. Proficiency in English is considered a valuable asset, enhancing communication with international partners and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The position is offered on a fixed-term contract under French law for a duration of 12 months. The gross monthly salary ranges from 2597 to 2968 euros, depending on experience, and includes a 13th month payment. Non-French citizens will receive a retirement insurance reimbursement of 16% of their gross monthly salary. There is a 6% increase in the base salary every 12 months of continuous contract. Additional benefits include a monthly per diem and living expenses of 838 euros net, a monthly context allowance of 150 euros, and a child allowance of 1500 euros per year for each child present in the home country (with a ceiling of 6000 euros per year). Transport and accommodation are provided, and medical coverage includes 100% reimbursement of health contributions and repatriation insurance, covering medical expenses up to one month after the end of the contract. Salary maintenance provisions are in place for illness, maternity, and paternity. Employees are entitled to 25 days of annual leave and 20 rest and recuperation days per year, with travel expenses covered for breaks.
