Job Overview:

Interns will work under the supervision of a staff member in the Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (CSAM) based in Beijing, China. The internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of five days per week, totaling 37.5 hours. The minimum duration of the internship is two months, with the possibility of extension up to six months. Interns will engage in various tasks that align with their academic background and the needs of ongoing projects, contributing to the overall mission of ESCAP to promote sustainable development goals in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be involved in a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: providing support to ongoing projects, assisting in social media outreach efforts, offering administrative support, working on presentations, and consolidating and sorting data. The specific responsibilities will depend on the intern's background and the duration of their internship. Interns are expected to actively participate in team meetings and contribute ideas and insights to enhance project outcomes.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following qualifications: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). This ensures that interns have a solid academic foundation to contribute effectively to the projects they will be involved in.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes either a graduate degree or a bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Candidates should be currently enrolled in a university program or have recently completed their studies, which will provide them with the necessary knowledge and skills to engage in the tasks assigned during the internship.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandated, any relevant experience in project management, research, or administrative support will be beneficial. Interns should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to the working environment of the United Nations, as well as an understanding of sustainable development principles.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for the internship programme, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French is also advantageous, as it is another working language within the organization. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered a plus, depending on the specific projects the intern will be involved in.
