Job Overview: The UN Front Office Intern position is designed for motivated individuals who are eager to learn about the operations of the UN system at the country level. The intern will work full-time for a duration of six months, providing essential administrative support to the RCO in Beijing. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage with various UN agencies and contribute to the UN's mission in China. The intern will assist in coordination and administrative tasks, including drafting official correspondences, providing translation services, and maintaining archives and databases. This internship is unpaid, and candidates are expected to commit to a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week, from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM CST, five days a week.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a range of duties that support the Front Office of the UN Resident Coordinator. Key responsibilities include:
Finalizing and formatting official correspondences submitted to the Resident Coordinator and coordinating their approval.
Offering simple translation and interpretation services as needed.
Supporting the maintenance of chrono filing, archives, and contact information databases.
Completing other ad hoc tasks as requested by the office and/or supervisor.
Ensuring that all outputs, including official correspondences and archives, are properly drafted and formatted according to office standards.
Delivering assigned tasks in line with the learning objectives of the internship, under the supervision of the Executive Associate.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following educational requirements: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum master's degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required for this internship, candidates should have a field of study closely related to the internship they are applying for. Additionally, applicants must possess good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
Educational Background: Candidates must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum master's degree or equivalent). Proof of enrollment or completion must be provided with the application, and an official certificate will be required at a later stage.
