Job Overview: The Intern - Communication position at IOM is designed for individuals who are eager to gain practical experience in the field of communication within an international organization. Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the creation and dissemination of communication materials, including press releases, articles, and social media posts.
Support the organization of events and campaigns to promote IOM's initiatives.
Conduct research on migration-related topics to inform communication strategies.
Monitor media coverage and prepare reports on IOM's visibility in the media.
Collaborate with other teams within IOM to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
Engage with stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs, and the public, to promote IOM's work.
Assist in maintaining IOM's website and social media channels, ensuring content is up-to-date and engaging.
Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving communication efforts.
Required Qualifications:
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication tools.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of migration issues and IOM's work is an asset.
Educational Background: Candidates should be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program in communication, public relations, international relations, or a related field. Recent graduates may also be considered. A strong academic background in relevant subjects will be advantageous.
Experience: No prior work experience is required, but any internships or volunteer work related to communication, public relations, or migration will be considered a plus. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
Languages: Fluency in English and Spanish is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's application.
Additional Notes: This internship is unpaid and is expected to last for a duration of 3 to 6 months. The position is full-time, and candidates should be available to work during regular office hours.
