Duties and Responsibilities:
The Security Coordination Officer will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: reviewing and monitoring the security situation in Yemen, advising on security matters, accompanying staff on field missions, maintaining evacuation routes, ensuring the functionality of emergency communication systems, investigating security incidents, supporting risk management strategies, preparing security plans, conducting security training, and collaborating with local and international security entities. The officer will also be involved in enhancing communication and trust among various stakeholders, conducting security assessments, and ensuring compliance with security preparedness protocols. Additionally, the officer will be responsible for maintaining the security of OHCHR facilities and personnel, conducting physical security inspections, and implementing gender-sensitive security measures.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a solid background in security management, with knowledge of military or other security specializations. They should demonstrate the ability to handle stress effectively and apply technical skills in security system management. Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in fields such as business or public administration, political/social science, psychology, criminal justice, law, international relations, or security management is required. Alternatively, a relevant first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted. Military or Police Academy degrees at the officer level may also be considered in lieu of the first-level university degree.

Experience:
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in areas such as international relations, conflict resolution, military, police, or security management is required. Candidates should have experience in planning and implementing risk mitigation measures related to security operations. At least three years of field operations experience is desirable, along with familiarity with human rights or international humanitarian law and the United Nations Security Management System (UNSMS).

Languages:
English and Arabic are required for this position. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in both languages, with specific levels outlined according to the UN Language Framework. French is also recognized as a working language of the United Nations, but proficiency in it is not mandatory for this role.
