Job Overview: The Technical Project Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the FAO Yemen office in the implementation of the GEF7 project. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of natural resources management and climate change adaptation, as the specialist will be responsible for ensuring that project activities align with the overarching goals of the project. The role involves providing technical expertise, facilitating communication between various stakeholders, and ensuring that project reports accurately reflect the progress and challenges faced during implementation. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Technical Project Specialist include conducting a thorough review of proposed project activities to ensure alignment with project objectives, providing technical expertise to refine these activities, and integrating scientific and technical knowledge into project execution. The specialist will facilitate smooth communication between the FAO project team and key partners, including government ministries and environmental authorities. Additionally, the specialist will prepare Project Progress Reports (PPR) and Projects Implementation Reports (PIR), ensuring they are accurate and up-to-date. The role also involves resolving challenges that arise during project implementation, addressing stakeholder concerns, and preparing action plans to enhance the capacity of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA). The specialist will attend monthly meetings with project management colleagues, contribute to annual reporting to the GEF, review Terms of Reference for implementation partners, and organize project steering committee meetings.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in natural resources management, climate change, or a closely related field. They should have at least five years of relevant experience in natural resources management and climate change adaptation. A working knowledge of both English and Arabic, both written and spoken, is required. Additionally, candidates must be nationals of Yemen or residents with a valid work permit. FAO core competencies such as results focus, teamwork, communication, building effective relationships, and knowledge sharing are essential for this role.
Educational Background: The position requires an advanced university degree in natural resources management, climate change, or a closely related field. Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years of relevant experience in natural resources management and climate change adaptation.
