Job Posting Organization:
The Office of the Special Coordinator on improving the United Nations response to sexual exploitation and abuse (OSCSEA) is dedicated to addressing the critical issues of sexual exploitation and abuse within the framework of the United Nations. Job Overview:
The Individual Contractor position is designed to provide essential administrative and programmatic support to the OSCSEA. The role is crucial in facilitating the office's operations, which include logistical arrangements for official missions, preparation for speaking engagements, and the development of strategies related to the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA). The contractor will be involved in monitoring progress in various initiatives, conducting research, and coordinating efforts across multiple stakeholders. This position requires a proactive approach to support the office's internal and external communications, resource mobilization efforts, and the overall advancement of the PSEA agenda.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Individual Contractor include:
  • Supporting operations in the OSCSEA, including logistical and substantive arrangements for official missions and activities.
  • Assisting in the preparation of briefing materials for the Special Coordinator’s speaking engagements.
  • Contributing to the development of the updated system-wide Strategy on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) and other related projects.
  • Monitoring progress in assigned areas by collecting and analyzing materials and coordinating follow-up actions.
  • Providing logistical and substantive support to various meetings, including the SEA Working Group and High-Level Steering Group on PSEA.
  • Coordinating information-sharing platforms and supporting office correspondence.
  • Facilitating internal and external information sharing on PSEA matters.
  • Contributing to resource mobilization efforts, including donor reporting and budget proposal preparation.
  • Supporting additional tasks as required by the office.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires the following qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in peace and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, humanitarian affairs, political affairs, gender-based violence, sexual exploitation and abuse, development studies, or related fields.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in the front office of a senior official.
  • Desirable experience includes supporting written correspondence and scheduling with diverse stakeholders and drafting reports.

Educational Background:
Candidates should possess a relevant educational background that aligns with the responsibilities of the position. This typically includes degrees in fields such as international relations, political science, social sciences, or other related disciplines that provide a strong foundation for understanding the complexities of humanitarian and development issues.

Experience:
The role requires candidates to have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, particularly in areas related to peace and security, humanitarian affairs, and political affairs. Additionally, 2 years of experience in a senior official's front office is essential, indicating a need for familiarity with high-level administrative functions and stakeholder engagement.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another UN language is considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a multilingual environment.
