Job Overview:
The Donor Engagement and Resources Mobilisation Intern will work under the guidance of the Senior Donor Relations Officer within the Global Outreach Team. This internship is designed for students or recent graduates who are looking to gain practical experience in donor relations and resource mobilization. The intern will be involved in various tasks that support the preparation for bilateral and multilateral meetings, including drafting briefing notes and organizing donor field visits. The role also includes drafting political analyses and donor engagement strategies that align with the team's annual work plan. The intern will analyze key bilateral and multilateral donors, focusing on funding mechanisms and will support coordination for proposal development with various departments. The position requires maintaining updated donor engagement dashboards and analyzing data sources related to official development assistance (ODA) for key sectors such as education, health, and protection. The intern will also draft donor factsheets and sector opportunities, providing insights into upcoming funding opportunities and donor priorities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will perform a variety of tasks, including:
  • Supporting the preparation for bilateral and multilateral meetings by drafting briefing notes.
  • Assisting in organizing donor field visits and coordinating briefings with departmental interlocutors.
  • Drafting political analyses and donor engagement strategies in alignment with the annual work plan.
  • Analyzing key bilateral and multilateral donors, focusing on funding mechanisms such as specialized funds and thematic windows.
  • Coordinating proposal development with implementing departments and field operations on issues like neutrality, gender, protection, livelihoods, and peacebuilding.
  • Maintaining updated donor engagement dashboards and analyzing ODA data sources for key UNRWA sectors.
  • Identifying key donors for sectors such as education, health, and protection, and analyzing their priorities.
  • Drafting and updating donor factsheets and sector opportunities for field offices.
  • Supporting follow-up actions related to donor engagement and funding opportunities.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must be students currently enrolled in or have recently completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent) or a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). The major area of study should be in Business Management, Communication, Marketing, International Relations, Journalism, Social Sciences, or another relevant field. Strong analytical skills in international relations and donor aid flows are essential, along with the ability to communicate complex data in an understandable manner. Service-mindedness and collaboration skills are also required, as well as knowledge of project management and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Educational Background:
Candidates should possess either a graduate degree or a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business Management, Communication, Marketing, International Relations, Journalism, or Social Sciences. The internship is open to students who are currently enrolled or have graduated within the last year, allowing for a practical application of their academic knowledge in a real-world setting.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandatory, candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills and an understanding of international relations and donor dynamics. Experience in project management or related fields is advantageous but not required. The internship is designed to provide practical experience, making it suitable for students or recent graduates looking to enhance their professional skills.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is the primary working language of the United Nations. Fluency in Arabic is considered a plus, as it may enhance communication with local stakeholders and contribute to the effectiveness of donor engagement efforts.

Additional Notes:
This internship is expected to last for a duration of six months. It is important to note that interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations, and all costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of Jordan may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization.
