Job Overview:
The External Relations Services Internship is designed to provide students or recent graduates with practical experience in the field of external relations and donor management within the context of the United Nations. The intern will work under the guidance of the acting Head of External Relations Service and the Senior Donor Relations Officer, contributing to various tasks that support the overall mission of UNRWA. The internship will focus on data management, analysis, and presentation, requiring proficiency in tools such as Excel and PowerPoint. The intern will assist in preparing financial overviews and donor-related presentations, ensuring that all outputs are accurate and visually appealing. This role is crucial for supporting strategic decision-making through donor analysis and grant management processes, making it an excellent opportunity for those interested in international relations and development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: supporting day-to-day operations of the External Relations Service team, focusing on data management and analysis; assisting in the preparation of financial overviews and donor presentations; contributing to donor analysis efforts by consolidating and interpreting funding data; working closely with the Contributions Unit and Projects Unit to support grant management processes; preparing and reviewing financial and narrative donor reports; optimizing internal workflows and tools; maintaining the UNRWA Partnership Digest and donor datasets; updating donor factsheets and conducting basic research on donor priorities; and providing support for proposal development and program documents.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must be students currently enrolled in or have recently completed a graduate school program or a first university degree program, with a major in Business Management, International Relations, Political Science, Development Studies, Journalism, Communications, Social Sciences, or a related field. This requirement ensures that candidates possess the necessary academic background to understand the complexities of donor relations and external communications.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field. Those pursuing or who have completed a master's degree are also encouraged to apply, as this internship is designed to provide practical experience that complements academic learning.

Experience:
While prior work experience is not mandatory, any relevant internships or volunteer work in the fields of international relations, development, or communications will be considered an asset. The internship is particularly suited for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic international organization.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the UN. Additionally, fluency in Arabic is considered an asset, as it enhances the intern's ability to engage with a broader range of stakeholders and understand regional contexts.

This internship is expected to last for a duration of six months, with the possibility of partial remote working arrangements. It is important to note that interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations, and all costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of Jordan may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization prior to starting the internship.
