Job Overview:
The Deputy Field Coordinator (P-DFC) plays a crucial role in supervising the implementation of programs in Dnipro, Ukraine. This position is aligned with SI's annual country strategy and the evolving humanitarian needs in the region. The P-DFC is responsible for supporting the design and implementation of new projects, ensuring the quality of project execution through direct management of Program Managers. Additionally, the P-DFC assists the Field Coordinator in representing the organization in external meetings. The role is pivotal during a key period for SI's strategic programming, which aims to enhance visibility and partnerships with various stakeholders. The P-DFC will also navigate security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security constraints that may impact SI's operational capacity, particularly in high-risk areas affected by ongoing conflict.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Deputy Field Coordinator will oversee several critical functions, including:
  • Supervising the implementation of emergency and longer-term projects in high-risk areas, ensuring alignment with SI's strategic objectives.
  • Participating in the strategic annual programming exercise for the Dnipro base and the overall Ukraine mission, focusing on sector integration and innovative approaches.
  • Enhancing the quality of programming by operationalizing protection mainstreaming and inclusion in project planning.
  • Developing and harmonizing SI tools and methodologies in collaboration with coordination and other bases.
  • Supporting capacity building initiatives for local staff and stakeholders.
  • Engaging with various interlocutors to improve SI's visibility and external positioning.
  • Addressing security constraints and ensuring the safety of staff while maintaining access to beneficiaries.
  • Reporting on program progress and challenges to the Field Coordinator and other stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and have at least 3 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a minimum of 1 year in a similar position. Experience in humanitarian program management is essential. An engineering background or education in WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) or a related technical field is considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate strong technical skills in proposal writing, project design, and management, as well as a basic understanding of at least one of SI's core sectors (WASH or Shelter).

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required for this position. Candidates with advanced degrees or specialized training in humanitarian aid, project management, or related disciplines may have an advantage.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 1 year in a similar role. Candidates should have a proven track record in humanitarian program management and demonstrate the ability to work effectively in challenging environments.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this role. Knowledge of French is considered an asset, as well as proficiency in Ukrainian or Russian, which would enhance communication with local stakeholders and beneficiaries.

Additional Notes:
This is a short-term contract position with a duration of 6 months, starting from July 15, 2026, with the possibility of extension. The role is based in Dnipro, Ukraine, and involves working in a challenging security context. The compensation package includes a gross monthly salary starting from EUR 2475, a monthly per diem of EUR 700, and coverage for accommodation and travel expenses. Expatriates will also receive an insurance package covering healthcare expenses and essential vaccinations. The organization implements a system of work and time off, allowing for breaks every three months, along with additional rest days for each month worked.
