Job Overview: The Roving Rehabilitation Technical Officer plays a crucial role in the implementation of Humanity & Inclusion's mandate and its 10-year strategy. This position is responsible for providing technical expertise to ensure the quality and impact of rehabilitation projects in conflict-affected areas. The officer will work closely with project managers and the technical team to support the national rehabilitation officer and physical therapists in achieving their technical activities effectively. The role requires a strong focus on improving access to quality rehabilitation services, particularly for vulnerable populations affected by conflict, and ensuring that project activities align with internal quality and technical standards. The officer will also be involved in capacity development for national staff, contributing to the overall mission of enhancing rehabilitation services in Ukraine.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide guidance and technical support to projects in accordance with overall technical frameworks and standards within the rehabilitation sector. This includes offering specialized occupational therapy guidance, particularly in acute trauma and polytrauma cases, and ensuring project activities are implemented according to internal quality standards.
Collect necessary elements for planned capitalization or scientific documentation exercises and provide reports on training sessions to contribute to technical learning.
Design and deliver trauma-specific occupational therapy training and assist in coordinating professional development for rehabilitation professionals.
Contribute to the influence of HI's expertise by representing the organization in relevant local networks and strengthening referral pathways into existing rehabilitation services.
Ensure regular reporting of rehabilitation activities and collaborate with the MEAL team for data collection and analysis.
Support capacity development of national rehabilitation staff through mentoring, supervising, and training, with an emphasis on trauma-informed care.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess a degree in Occupational Therapy and have at least 3 years of clinical experience, particularly in emergency humanitarian settings. Experience in managing acute traumas, polytraumas, and complex injuries rehabilitation is essential. Strong communication skills, openness to collaboration, and effective teamwork are critical for this role. The candidate should also demonstrate strong interpersonal and intercultural skills, as well as experience in a multidisciplinary approach to rehabilitation.
Educational Background: A degree in Occupational Therapy is mandatory for this position. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding rehabilitation practices and the specific needs of individuals with disabilities and trauma-related conditions. Additional certifications or training in trauma-focused therapy or humanitarian assistance may be advantageous.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience, particularly in emergency humanitarian settings. This experience should include working with acute trauma and polytrauma cases, as well as complex injuries. Familiarity with the challenges of providing rehabilitation services in conflict-affected areas is highly desirable, as is experience in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with international partners. Knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian would be considered an asset, as it would facilitate communication with local staff and beneficiaries.
Additional Notes: This position is a 6-month international contract starting from 1st July 2026, with the possibility of renewal based on funding. The role is unaccompanied, and housing will be provided collectively by Humanity & Inclusion. The compensation package includes a gross monthly salary starting from €2346, a net monthly per diem of €578, and a hardship allowance of €50
Employees are entitled to 25 days of paid leave per year and 5 days of rest and recuperation every 8 weeks, with possible transport support. The organization offers social coverage adapted to the context of the mission, including unemployment insurance for EU nationals, a pension scheme, and medical coverage.
