Job Overview: The Programme ManagementAnalyst position is situated within the Programme SupportManagement Unit (PSMU) of UN Women, which is part of the Strategy, Planning, Results and Effectiveness Division (SPRED). The role involves supporting the programmatic functions of PSMU, including coordination of Global Project Appraisal Committee (GPAC) meetings, capacity building and training events, and knowledge management. The analyst will also assist in planning, monitoring, and reporting on PSMU's workplans, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and requirements. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including Regional PSMU focal points, to enhance the implementation capacity of UN Women’s strategic goals. The Programme Management Analyst will play a crucial role in ensuring that all projects and programmes are standardized and aligned with UN Women’s objectives, thereby contributing to the overall effectiveness and transparency of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Management Analyst will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Providing coordination support for PSMU work planning, monitoring, and reporting, ensuring timely completion of data entry in relevant systems.
Monitoring and reporting on PSMU’s delivery against workplan activities on a quarterly basis and managing budget revisions.
Coordinating the GPAC calendar and meetings, ensuring documentation completeness and liaising with relevant units.
Supporting internal and external audits, including data collection and follow-up on audit recommendations.
Organizing capacity building and training events, providing logistical support for workshops and meetings.
Managing knowledge and document management systems within PSMU, ensuring effective use of shared drives and communication tools.
Overseeing operations activities, including budget, finance, human resources, and procurement, ensuring compliance with UN Women policies.
Facilitating recruitment processes and managing contracts for staff and consultants.
Supporting logistics and travel arrangements for official missions. 1
Performing other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a master’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, HR, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. Project Management certification from a recognized global body is considered an asset. Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in programme or project management within a large international or corporate organization. Experience in office management, operations, or budget/finance is also required. Proficiency in using computers and office software packages, as well as modern web-based ERP systems, is essential. Experience in international development or humanitarian work is desirable, along with familiarity with the UN system and knowledge management practices.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, or Human Resources. A first-level university degree may be accepted if accompanied by additional qualifying experience. Project Management certification is an asset, indicating a formal recognition of the candidate's skills in managing projects effectively.
Experience: The position requires at least 2 years of progressively responsible experience in programme or project management, particularly within large international or corporate organizations. Candidates should have experience in office management, operations, or budget/finance, demonstrating their ability to handle complex organizational tasks. Familiarity with international development or humanitarian work at various levels is desirable, as is experience within the UN system. Knowledge management experience and strategic planning skills are also beneficial for this role.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is desirable and would enhance the candidate's profile, allowing for better communication in a multilingual environment.
Additional Notes: This position is a locally recruited National Officer role, which means it is open only to nationals of Germany. The role is full-time and involves various responsibilities that require a high level of coordination and collaboration with different teams within UN Women.
